beginner question
I am entering the world of self-hosting things due to a data loss. Currently I have most my photos on a large drive I will be moving to my nas. I am thinking of adding Ente as a good way to move off the google ecosystem. From what I understand though photos in Ente are fully encrypted which means I can't move from local storage to Ente without uploading/downloading correct?

Yes, you will need to upload through ente's api. But if you self host at home the upload speed will be much faster than what you are used to normally.
Also I have found the UI to be quite good.
Is there a good walkthrough of setting this up? I have done the docker setup and it is up and running, but I don't see any admin options, CLI is showing 0 accts set up and can connect via app, but not upload. So am thinking I need to check stuff.
Hey there, you should add your account that was created first using Ente CLI for configuring storage limit and other administrative actions.
By app, you mean web app, if so try checking for issues in network tab of your browser, most likely bad gateway or CORS related errors.
Ok, Got the web app working on the machine hosting docker currently. If I use an app from a phone and connect, I can get logged in, but doesn't show photos or upload photos. I am guessing I have to change something in my .yaml files correct? Currently they are pointing to "localhost"
changed all "localhost" entries with the ip of the machine hosting and working so far!
In the *.yaml files, there are ports 3001, 3004 commented out. What specifically would those be used for? Also, now that it is working via my intranet, what are good steps to take to harden the environment before exposing to the internet?
