Fall Family Photos Outfit Recommendations/Ideas

Hey everyone, I'm new to mfad and haven't really ever considered myself "fashion-forward" which is part of why I'm here. Every year it's really important to my wife and I to have family photos with the kiddos that we can always look back on. This year I'd like to really dive into putting something together that looks great. My wife and I have lost a combined 150 lbs over the last year and a half together and so I'm also feeling much more confident and have started taking more interest in my wardrobe because of it. I'm mostly interested in any sort of outfit inspirations, ideas, or advice that you all have for putting together a fall fit. Colors can come later, but mostly asking for recs on layers, pieces, etc. Attached are a few photos of previous outfits I've worn for family photos and I know they're not fantastic but wanted to give a reference of what I've done in the past. We're also in MN so it'll be a bit colder when we take our photos. From what I've seen, I really enjoy fits where people have been able to create interesting layers or textured clothing, which I've attempted in my previous outfits but I'm not sure if I'm hitting the mark. Sorry if this is an unnecessarily long post or doesn't give the info needed, but this is my first dive into everything. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks everyone.

i think the green t orange vest fit is great jeans from fit 3 may be welcome here here’s some fall inspo https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1282369863230427188 else you may want to dig through #inspiration though given the season you’re less likely to find fall stuff

Thank you @kyn ! I'll take a peek through both of the channels you recommended. Unfortunately most everything I have here no longer fits anymore so I'll be looking for new pieces to buy 😅

in that case 1 is a great place to start, i think a darker wash and more straight / full leg vs the slim/slim straight would be slightly better

One thing I'm also noticing a lot in research of fall fits are a lot of really interesting/long length jackets/coats. I might use that as a starting point as well.

heritage brands may help you gather more inspo as well (bronson, brycelands, wythe, left field, filson, ll bean, rrl, etc) no need to reinvent the wheel if you’re already putting pressure on yourself to look good for a specific event! best way to move your wardrobe in a new direction or rebuild it in general is always to go slowly and with visual references for where you want to move

Most definitely. I figure if I put together an outfit for our pictures and pick pieces that are of decent quality that I like I can start to use those as staples to move forward from

past fits from @warpweftwatergate @awburkey @pacific_north_dressed @mrweeg or @s0up2715 in waywt may be useful references too!

Just going through quickly, mrweeg and epistrophy have a lot of fits that I love. Definitely going to be doing some resarch today. Thanks again for the help.

Yeah for sure. The thing I love about his fits is since Im a basic millennial I’ve been attached to slim fit jeans forever so I’m looking to branch into more wider fit pants and he does a great job of making them look awesome. It also seems like after looking through this discord that I need to learn to tuck in my tops 😂😂
