Consistent Lag/Ping Spikes
It's what the title states, I've been having this issue since Friday and I've closed background programs and continued to ahe the issue, I've adjusted my graphics(which worked for all of 5mins). I enjoy this game I really freakin do but I cannot with this constant ping spiking.
I am wireless, no I cannot get an ethernet cable due to my computer being in the basement and the router being on my dad's computer on the 2nd floor. I just replaced my wifi chip in my PC after hitting this issue a couple months ago. I've thought about getting a router strengthen or something in the basement to try and boost the signal down here.
THIS IS THE ONLY GAME CAUSING THIS ISSUE AS WELL!

I did the speed test with my connection it's all good, and here's an in game clip as well to show the ping spiking up.

and to add this was my current ping for my area before the match, then after the match it jumped up to 44ms I wasn't able to get a screenshot

do a ping test
like on meter
dot net
I’ll check it tomorrow I’m testing on my laptop and no issues at all. I’m peeved
are you plugged in ethernet ?
Everything is wireless
could you send another clip with your packet loss graph enabled? it seems like packet loss, which is almost inevitable with wireless
I can do that tomorrow for sure. I’m like 99% sure I’m getting an abandonment penalty cause my laptop died while I was testing the lag/ping thing out on it :valojettlaugh: F swift play
But Valorant runs fine on my laptop no issues at all. It’s just my desktop that has all the issues so im stumped
@GhostedNova This is most likely an issue between you and your default gateway. Do you mind pinging your default gateway about 100 times and letting me know the summary at the end? If you don’t know how to do that, I can guide you through the steps
I’m getting ready for work go ahead and drop it below and I’ll do it when I get home.
Open Command Prompt and run the command
ipconfig
. Find the part “Default Gateway” and copy the IP address (usually its 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x). Then, run the command ping ip -n 120
, replace “ip” with the IP address you copied. Wait about 2 minutes and take a screenshot of the summary at the end.Doing this now I'm against the clock cause we got a strong storm here and im hoping it doesnt knock power(it shouldn't be who knows honestly)
that first one was with my vpn on and no i dont run val with my vpn on at all i close it before i boot the game up

I'm doing this atm but not lag istg
To add after 2 matches I only got disconnected once each match
It's just been a lot of disconnects(this one was funny)
to add I was also disconnecting a lot on SWTOR
youre on wifi right?
if so can you run
netsh wlan show interfaces
and show the part that says signal
should look kinda like
“Signal : xx%”Okay. I shut my pc down for the night I’ll get that whenever I get back home.
Least im not lagging anymore but the d/c is annoying :valojettlaugh:

@GhostedNova The issue is the connection between your computer and your router. If you use an Ethernet cable (running directly to your router, without using an extender), it should resolve your problem.
I'm not able to run a cord from the router to my desktop sadly as the router is on the 2nd floor and im all the way in the basement
You could try installing a WiFi mesh system, which should also fix it.
i think..
I mean I could try it out I need to run to the computer store anyways to return keycaps that didnt fit my keyboard
Ive not tried valorant yet today either to see if I'm lagging still or disconnecting but based on all the disconncting I got while I was playing SWTOR I probably would still disconnect on Valo lol
But I'll see what the techs also suggest too since my desktop should be under warranty still(same with my wifi chip I just got in April)
try changing wifi channels around and make sure to use 5G on wifi if possible, also try rebooting router
you can google your router brand and how to connect to it to change wifi channels
So we use to have the 5G option, but then we got a new router and lost the 5G(I use to use that one as my main connection)
reboot it and try that test from @lyra again
Sure
if your neighbours are using wifi and have the same channels, you might experience packetloss and delays. nothing we can do here to fix it unfortunately
10/10 if I get to fuck with my brothers game that he left running up on his PC :evil_hehe:
RIP Brothers online sessions
HEY! It's his fault he left his games running while at work at least I shut my PC down
Well it went up by 16% :giggle:

I'll say this, just did my first val match of the day didn't d/c or anything so I am slightly hopeful
@GhostedNova Is there anything else we can help you with, or is this all?
The guy I spoke to at the computer store, said that the company we use for Wi-Fi merged the 2.5 and 5G together with their newest routers so that’s why I don’t have the options anymore on top of the fact that it’s known to be kicking systems off I also think he was trying to give me to buy a new router or something like that but I got a mesh just to try it out. Doesn’t work out I’ll return it.
I think you’re free for now if it continues I’ll just play on my laptop
The wifi mesh works wonders ❤️
I was able to play SWTOR for a solid 30mins with no d/c(I would DC about every 5mins) and no issues at all on Valorant
I’m glad it helped:val_Okayge:

Yup back to streaming I go much appreciated
