What shaderpack and what’s your gpu
I have reasons to believe they're using a cracked launched.
I cant notice anything immediate

Could be new to Minecraft?
Pretty sure you now get the updated default skins if you run modern Minecraft.

And often time you get either Steve or Alex as your default skin if you're using any cracked launchers.
Since you can't authenticate with Mojang servers, that is.
I'm using PojavLauncher on an iPhone 8.

We don't support Pojav Launcher and/or any Java Edition launchers on smartphones in general.
Possible exception would be the M1 iPad as that uses a desktop SoC instead of a mobile one, even then we can't really help much as Apple's M series SoCs are just as difficult to deal with.
