What command do you use to save?
save_z_offset ifrc
also I pressed the button
i copied it from the beacon tap calibration guide
You may have to delete your beacon calibrate data in printer.cfg and start from scratch, it has happened to several people, it seems that sometimes there is too much data there that can't be handled.
I have the same issue, except mine is too close to the bed for every print I am doing.
I am almost sure that I am doing something wrong. I am still not very familiar with Klipper so it's kind of difficult to understand where is what.
is that this?

the bed mesh profiles

i would have never guessed there was too much data
so you just deleted this mesh profile and what then?
I deleted all but one or two mesh profiles
after that the zoffset saved
That did not help me.. 😄
