Monster Hunter Wilds crashing on startup

Hi! I've recently installed bazzite on my laptop (cyborg 15 A12V) and Monster Hunter Wilds did not work once since I switched from windows 11, on which it worked surprisingly well (decent framerate with graphics and shadow quality set to high and framegen). When I open the game, it freezes my entire laptop, forcing me to force shut down the entire thing. It always happens at two different moments during loading, depending on the proton version I've tried using: either during the shader compiling or straight after, as soon as the health warning comes on screen. This is very strange, since once again, this has never been a problem on windows. Additionally, I was told that using "gamemodrun %command%" helped, but each time I've tried opening the game with it, the launch sequence stopped before the game started running. Is there some setup that I've missed after installing bazzite that is preventing me from using launch options? Finally, I am using a one terabyte external SSD for my steam games, but I have to add it in my steam settings every single time I open my computer, and it's quite a pain to do so, since I always have to select the option to add a new drive a few times before the option actually shows up. Is there a way to keep it saved in my settings?

maybe this can help you with the external drive: https://docs.bazzite.gg/Advanced/Auto-Mounting_Secondary_Drives/?h=drive

Bazzite is a custom image built upon Fedora Atomic Desktops that brings the best of Linux gaming to all of your devices.

and for the game problem you can try using different proton versions. right click the game in steam -> properties -> compatibility. try experimental or the proton 10 beta for example. you can also use the system program protonup-qt to install latest ProtonGE, another community enhanced forked version of proton that has some fixes. after doing so use can select and use it in steam like the other protons

you can also go to protondb https://www.protondb.com/ and take a look how other people get the game running and what proton or aditional settings they use

Thank you for your help. The external drive has been resolved. For the game, I've been trying to avoid trying out different proton versions and launch options until something changes, since the in-game shader compiling takes probably over 10 minutes each time. It's a pain, but at this point I guess it's necessary
