Black screen after waking up from sleep mode

Had to do a hard reboot as the system didn't respond either to 1. Sleep mode keyboard shortcut or 2. Power button. The latter did not respond with one press to shutdown, but it did restart when I kept holding the Power button.
Which log would I be looking for the check what might have caused this?
