ERROR CODES [VAN -79] [VAN -102] [VAN 185] Valorant is constantly crashing.
Hi, I have been recently in the past 2-3 days getting a ton of issues when playing Valorant. The major issue is crashing as my game crashes every 15-30 minutes. Every time my game crashes i get an error like VAN -102. I looked on the support Riot page and had already done the steps followed like relaunching my client however everytime I relaunch my client I get a new error that persists which is VAN -79 which is not at all mentioned on the Riot Support Page. I have already uninstalled the game, riot client, and vangaurd twice, deleting any residual folders. I tried to use the repair feature built into riot games and it had worked once where I was able to play premeir for 45 minutes but afterward the issue still persisted. The only way I found to get passed the VAN -79 error is to restart my PC and join back which worked as a temporary situation however in 5-25 minutes the game crashes again. My hardware is all up to date and I strongly don't think the issue is within my memory. If anyone had a simmilar issue please let me know how you fixed it or what I should do to fix it. Thanks.

For anyone who still might have errors on these I got back from riot earlier and they gave me a possible solution. Did not work for me but maybe can work for yall:
^ i heavily doubt that this is a network issue due to being able to play valorant perfectly fine for the last couple of weeks. The problem only arose a couple days ago for me and I am sure that I didn't have any changes made to my network.

Pretty sure that would depend on CPU cause we can already see lots of problems with weaker CPU with every update, so loads on those would be hefty with UE5 (I could be wrong)

doesn't work. Interesting thing I noticed is that when using windows event viewer I was able to see that the vcg was terminated for the reason being "Incorrect Function"

although i know its probably a vangaurd issue, I got a new set of solution from my valorant support ticket and just thought to test it out. and judging from my suspension it definitely did not work 😭

Like bluetooth, antivirus etc.
Right click on your antivirus (i have net protector antivirus) and then click on 'exit'.
And then start the game.

My VAN 185 and VAN 102 errors started July 18th. Same as all of you, I got kicked from matches every 20-24 minutes. Account got banned for 1 hour, then for 2 weeks while arguing back and forth with Riot.
I tried almost everything listed here, but most of the “support” I got from Riot was to continue to try and uninstall/re-install Vanguard. Getting rid of some services files and using a third-party app to uninstall Vanguard actually ultimately worked for me.
As of last night, I am able to play the game with no crashes. Riot support said they would give me an “exception” to reinstate the account that was banned, which is absolutely ludicrous and ridiculous that they would word it as if they are doing me a favor. $600+ in skin/bundle purchases should afford me the ability to play this free game without being accused of cheating (which I never would do).
I’ll try to post the exact steps I followed that resulted in Vanguard working again..
HERE IS THE LAST STEPS I WAS GIVEN THAT WORKED FOR ME
Let's try to clean-up the files from Vanguard in order to do a clean reinstall:
• Delete the file at C:\Windows\vgkbootstatus.dat
• Download Revo Uninstaller, look for Riot Vanguard, and uninstall it (make sure to search thoroughly, but if Vanguard doesn't show up in the list, you can skip this step)
• Open the Windows search, look for Command Prompt, and right click ➪ Run as admin
• Type or copy/paste the following commands (do each of them separately):
sc delete vgc
sc delete vgk
• Afterwards, do a reboot - please note that clicking "Shut down" is not the same as "Restart" (Windows does not do a full reboot if you click the "Shut down" button)
• Now, open the VALORANT shortcut again in order to reinstall Vanguard (you might need to restart the PC once again during this process)
Make sure to enable the Vanguard service on startup. If you haven't done that, here are the steps:
• Press: Windows R -> Type in: Services.msc
• Scroll down the list and find the service with the name "vgc". right click -> go to properties and change the startup type to "Automatic" and click ok.
• After you have done this, check the Status column. If it does not say "Running", right click "vgc" again and click start
• Restart your computer
If even after these steps you still face problems with your game, please let us know.

Idk if it's a fluke but my game just randomly worked perfectly fine last night. My game ran an entire comp match with OT plus 2-3 hours afk then 3 tdms.
Imma try to get on later today and see if the issue has fixed
But why should we all do all these steps instead of Riot servicing their game and uploading it again. Thats talking your players for Granted.

not all issues are related to the game itself
most of the time issues relate to the pc/ computer running the game4
And plus we already got confirmation from the staff that the anti cheat team is working on it
no one is forcing anyone to do these steps. What these steps do is just to find a potential fix to the problem and from my experience the support staff at riot has been very helpful at helping me solve issues with my game
I do wish the process for bugs like these are faster but when it comes to the support valorant staff provides they certaintly are not taking the players for granted

If the problem was with pc itself then it should be crashing every online game.
And yes they are literally forcing everyone to do those steps. Without them the game will crash.

The only thing support has is solutions to certain errors
Support staff can't debug or do shit, all they can do is just relay information on what can or can't work

Just to be safe play a dm for like 30 ish minutes or let your game run afk for a bit, if it works you probably good
I may be a bit biased towards support staff for riot but I have used support from epic games and all they do is just send you a bunch of links to their own site and hope you find a fix
