Lutris not registering installed mod
Hi everyone, I'm using Lutris (on Bazzite 42 nvidia edition) to play the best game of all time: Need for Speed Underground 😆
Installation worked like a charm, the script is really well done and very easy to understand. The game runs just like it did back in the day. And here we're running into my problem: During installation, I got the option to install a WidescreenFix which makes the game run in 16:9 instead of 4:3 ratio. I have used this mod before on Windows, so I know it works and that's why I was so excited that it was natively included in the Lutris script. However, Lutris doesn't seem to register it somehow. It is there, installed and the values have been tweaked as they should be, but the game still runs in 4:3 and doesn't skip the intro, like the mod is supposed to. I read something about maybe giving Lutris certain permissions, but I don't know how to do that yet. So I'm kinda stuck here. It's not the end of the world, since the game runs, but I'd love to know how to fix this, since it's not the only game where I intend to use widescreen fixes.
Does anybody have an idea what I could try?

You need to add dinput8 to your overrides

This in runner options
That makes quite a lot of sense. However neither dinput8 nor dinput8.dll worked. What's n,b?
Native, builtin
(Might be different dll but unlikely, this is from my lutris config of nfsug2 fyi)
Maybe I should install that one as well, just to see if it works
Alrighty
(...Plus I mean might as well if you're playing unerground lol)
Installing now. I'll let you know if it works
Also nice to meet a fellow peak nfs enjoyer
I played it when I was a child, simple as that lol, I had to keep it
The Underground games are still the most fun I've ever had in racing games, so they'll stay in my heart forever^^
Nothing beats those 90 degree Wallrides hahaha
Do I have to change the values in the WidescreenFix.ini file or is that done automatically?
Like the resolution, skip intro, controller support etc
You have to set them yourself iirc
Interesting...it asked me which resolution I want, at the end of the install. Fired up the game and voilà , 16:9. I checked in the config and the DLL overrides is empty
You installed a version with a builtin mod
Yes
Because it's a 2 Disc version and apparently it's really hard without the script
I just checked, the WidescreenFix.ini has been modified by the script, so it seems to be working for nfsu2
So idk what's wrong with Underground 1. I might reinstall it, just to see if the install process messed up somehow
If you used the script, check if the widescreen fix is there
Ok so Underground 2 works perfectly out of the box. Underground 1 on the other hand does not. I saw that the "script" folder and the dinput8.dll were in a folder called "Need For Speed Underground" while the game itself was right beside it in the folder "NFS Underground" so I copied the files over into the correct place. However, still no luck. The game runs, but the WidescreenFix doesn't
I even updated to version 1.4 because Widescreen only works with that version
Still doesn't work. Idk what to look for anymore 🤔
Works for me, make sure you clicked apply
I did. Hmm idk what could be wrong tbh
OMG...I just put a NoCD Patch in the folder (which is legal, since I own the game) and now it works!
Now I only need to get my xbox controller to work 😅
There's another mod for controllers
I'll check the mod out.
While my controller is connected to bazzite and steam (both showing that all buttons work like they should), it doesn't show up in my wine settings within Lutris. So I think that's another trouble shoot I need to do
