Trouble logging in to self hosted ente photos

I used https://ente.io/blog/self-hosting-quickstart/ and followed the instructions, now on http://localhost:3000 when I put my email address in the login screen it says Email not registered. Why does this happen only on the local self hosted one?
ente
Self host Ente in 1 minute (1 command only!)
Single command, single dependency (Docker), quickstart script to set up an isolated, self-hosted Ente instance on your machine — all in under a minute.

Oh it's useful to mention logging in works just fine on the main website, https://web.ente.io

Okay so I just tried making an account on localhost with the same email and it worked museum-1 | INFO[1144]email.go:130 sendViaTransmail Skipping sending email to [my email]: Verification code: 523866 But how do I get to see photos/videos I already uploaded to the account, it has nothing currently on localhost

ente.io and your localhost have different backends and are completely separate - so even though you used the same email address they have different files and database. Are you able to upload photos in your local install?

Ah I see, first time self hosting so I had no idea. 😅 The photos could be uploaded just fine in the local install but then this has me questioning something. If anything happens to my SSD or machine that would mean I lost the local database as well?
