Multiples of Clothing - Topic of the day 7/24/25
Do you own multiples of the same item of clothing - t-shirt, jeans, etc (excluding underwear)? Why or why not? Is there an "ideal" number of a certain item to own in your experience?

I own a bunch of items that are very similar to each other, but not quite the same. I think that’s fine because subtle differences are fun.
And then there’s stuff like white t shirts or a light blue OCBD that I’ll want to wear more often than my washing cycle allows me to and so I own multiples of those. It’s also practical for holidays.
Owning two of your favorite pant, two of your favorite shirt and maybe like 4 identical t-shirts seems to have hit a sweet spot for me.
I own 2 of these nice distinct white t shirts (on sale) and billowy black hakama pants, and i rotate them to wear between wash cycles. The bottoms in particular had one wear a hole, which ive patched, but its nice to know i do have a 2nd one + also inevitable wear/tear of having such thin fabric. I didnt specifically think too hard about what i got 2 of, but later I did resist the urge to get a 2nd pair of identical black jeans since theyre way less versatile for me.
i guess the doubled items are harder to find casually, vs. a plain black pair of straight cut jeans
I also have a spare pair of glasses frames because mine are deadstock and you never know.
Identical frames?
Yeah, they’re old BCGs and they’re not being made like that anymore.
They’re basically indestructible but I like to have a backup pair I can put lenses in just in case.
I've bought like 3 pairs each of bronson fatigues, carhartt double knees and wrangler 13mwzs lmao. Lost a lot of weight and the older oversized ones are great for my job so I keep em around

I'm on a quest to find and buy every rag and bone ribbed tank with the triangle seam in the back. I'm not sure why but I need more
I actively regret not getting spare trousers with my former suit, which became useless once I ruined the only pair I had by sitting on a fork
Learn from my mistakes, always order an extra pair of bottoms with your suits
I like a lot of variation in my wardrobe so I usually try not to have overlap in pieces. Sometimes I'll do it for beater sneakers since they wear out pretty fast for me
I own seven pairs of the same socks so I never have to sort them
Mostly tees and longsleeves, but I have found the perfect cut of jeans in usn bellbottoms from the 80s, so im considering hoarding a few of those.
My thrift store has an entire store pallet of like new but vintage wrangler snap buttons, i ended up buying three . I plan to turn at least one into a project and try some embroidery.
uh huh
anyway i have the same shirt and pants in different colors, i’ve definitely bought backups of beater sneakers when the previous pair were on their way out
I have a frankly stupid number of Ralph Lauren shirts in different colors, patterns, materials. I like how they fit, and I find that I like to express myself more through color and pattern than cut / fit / drape, so it works for me
I'm about to buy my third pair of shell cordovan Florsheim Imperial wingtip shoes. IMHO they're the best shoes ever made.
listen they're different black pieces in different materials and cuts from different brands :copium:
With basic items like tees and socks if I like something I’ll buy multiples. I also like buying different denims of the same jean cut if I find one that I like
Fujito kit tees in many colors.
