Mix-and-Match Suit Fabrics
I’m doing a suit refresh and rebuilding my foundations. I want to be able to mix suit separates. What are the rules when it comes to fabrics? For instance could I mix a s110 with a tropical wool or a 4-ply with a s130? What jacket fabrics would work with chinos and/or jeans?

- Reference pictures
- Budget in numbers
- Specific measurements
- Openness to buying secondhand and/or online
- Location: country/continent is fine
- Timing/urgency
prescriptive rules of combining fabrics matter less than what happens visually when you wear the separates together
to wit, the same vintage wool suit jacket with
1. lighter weight wool (gray) suit pants,
2. relatively similar weighted wool trousers (houndstooth print)
3. jeans
4. chinos
5. chino shorts
of note is wearing a suit as separates may cause the jacket and pants to wear or fade at different rates, which could pose an issue if wearing them together after a while
