Work In Progress Aerial Vehicle Tracking and Filming Rig
This is a heavily modified Celestron CPC 1100 telescope mount. I took out all the original electronics and motors and upgraded them probably a bit too much. At the heart of it is a Teensy 4.1. It's controlling two NEMA 23 motors. The min/max speed of the rig is 0.003 to 70 deg/sec. This wide range of tracking speeds allows me to track and film objects from stars, to high speed amateur rocketry.
Currently mounted on the custom made bridge between the arms are a Celestron 8' tube, and a 150-600mm lens, no cameras on them.
The rig is being translated using a modified Xbox Series S/X controller with 3d printed extended joysticks. And it will also be using optical tracking software once me and a friend are done developing it.
Sorry for the bad video quality, I couldn't be bothered to film it properly haha. Also the rig is very loud, but once the body panels are cut properly and installed, and it's outside, it will seem quieter. Right now it's guts are just laying out on a table while I wait for some more parts to arrive. I will soon put all the electrical equipment inside an electrical box so it's more portable.
