Dry fit shirts cleaning
I work out alot and I have lots of dry fit shirts and I wear them regularly and wash them after each wear but some of them smell like my sweat when I take them out if the washing machine or the start smelling like sweat as soon as I wear them
Is something wrong with some of my shirts?
Is something wrong with my washing machine?
Should I iron them to kill bacteria?
What should I do

Hi @The G! For better answers, include:
- Reference pictures
- Budget in numbers
- Specific measurements
- Openness to buying secondhand and/or online
- Location: country/continent is fine
- Timing/urgency
Soak them in a cup of white vinegar mixed with water.
1 part vinegar to 4 parts cold water. Soak overnight. Wash.
Or you can add white vinegar directly to the drum of your machine and wash on a cold cycle with no detergent. Soak works better though in my experience.
Oxi clean, sport detergent, odo ban, baking soda, vinegar, etc
Just don't use anything but vinegar and odo ban if you're washing protein fibers (wool, silk, etc) in the same load
For oxi clean and sport detergent (which is usually detergent with oxi or a similar agent) you don't need to soak
If i am not mistaken vinegar has a strong smell right?
What if the smell of vinegar never leaves my clothes
vinegar is a natural deodorizer, I use a small amount in every load of laundry I do. The rinse cycle is enough to remove the scent.
Ok but if I ever do this I am using one small spoon of vinegar and 4 cups of water
adding one or two cups of vinegar in a spin cycle will not make your clothes smell like vinegar
ive never had my clothes smell like vinegar after doing this
it does eliminate the gym funk though, which is the strong smell thats the problem
you can try using very little vinegar but if it doesnt work as well, consider upping amounts
very funny to be this concerned about vinegar smell when your clothes already stink. Just try it out and see, you've got multiple people in here telling you it works, up to u to see for urself.
this is a very known method its not just a few weirdos making their own home-chemistry observation
a bottle of vinegar is dirt cheap, if u dont believe us, go try it out on a test batch and see how it goes lol. at best I've noticed a slight smell when still wet after, and absolutely 0 after it dries
or just use the other 4 options i listed...
I workout out basically every day and some days twice a day, I use vinegar a lot because I have a lot of kit to wash. It works, it's cheap, it doesn't leave a smell because you wash it after you soak it anyway (and IME doesn't leave a smell anyway, 1:4 dilution means it's actually a pretty weak solution).
Fine I will try it
Only on one shirt as an expiriment
How long should I soak a shirt and water and vinegar before I put it in the washing machine
as chopper said, overnight
i'm often able to get away with throwing a cup of vinegar in during the machine cycle, so depending on how hard you soak the clothes you can either soak or do what i do
Yes how long should I soak
A hour
Half an hour
i love how ur treating it like vinegar is toxic
soak it overnight
I don't want to ruin my shirts
dog its vinegar its literally used the world over for cleaning things
Its in chips
You won't ruin them, I've soaked clothes in harsher stuff than vinegar overnight with no problems
what are we doing here man
just google if you’re gonna be this uncertain or distrusting
Who the fuck likes chips with vinegar
I fucking love vinegar chips 😭
With a coke it slaps
No
Only chips with Oregano
And salt
im not trusting the guy with stinky clothes
ok the g, I think you got all the advice you need tbh
1 part vinegar to 4 parts water, soak overnight (like 6 to 8 hours), wash as normal
