You need core staff and rooms for each for every three habitats The habitats can be huge themselves, but put all the doors as close as you can to the staff area, something vaguely triangle like.

So the blue things are your main most important building. You've got your keeper Hut. You've got your staff room and I think the third one is a research center, but you don't need that many. Once you've plowed through your research, you know what I mean

So basically the black is like walls so you don't necessarily have to cover your staff area to make a proper backstage area. This could literally just be rocks that has a door in it, but it's basically how Disney does a lot of its backstage areas. They'll literally just make it blend right into how they've designed like the garden and the fences and everything. And literally they have It's called "go away green" on all their doors/ infrastructure because you just don't notice it. We'll call it. Disney Magic. But the reason for it's called a tight triangle and they also use this in professional kitchens. But you always want to make sure that your staff can quickly get exactly where they need to as quickly as they can get to. Whenever I was first starting out, I cannot tell you how many times I would accidentally put my research center by the front gate and then wonder why it was taking literal months for them to research things. And it's because the researcher has to go to the habitat and back to the research center wasting so much precious time because they get stuck on all the guests as they walk back and forth. But you don't need a research center for every single three habitats. But you, at the very least need a keeper Hut because that's how they eat and a staff room. So your staff don't get tired and they can quickly bounce between their job and the staff room without having to walk a huge distance. And the ratio is about every two to three habitats depending on how many animals. I feel like there's another super important building that I am forgetting that you have to have for habitats Trade center isn't super important because they just go to whichever one is nearest arguably speaking. You're not going to be sitting down animals very often so you could literally get away with like one or two on either side of the zoo and be completely fine so you don't have to worry about a buttload of trade centers. For every 2-3 of these triangles you build I would add in a near-ish buy quarantine and emergency vet just to build out your park more. You won't be using the quarantine and emergency vet services very often, so that's why you don't need one for every three habitats unless you just like, want one or have decided to commit to a really big backstage area.

So every 6 to 9 habitats I would build a quarantine for that grouping and a vet surgery so that your guys don't have to rush animals across the entire zoo past guests in an actual in-game emergency with your animal's health.

how do social groups work because that's a tad bit confusing too regarding how many males i can have for example

So if you check on the zoopedia it'll tell you the maximum amount of males to females that you can have without starting fights

I can't remember off the top of my head, but if you send me a screenshot I can read it and recall what it is but I haven't looked at the game in a minute It's basically if it says you can have two males and up to 16 females and then mature males get offloaded or something I can't remember. It basically means if you have three males of adult status, it will automatically start a dangerous fighting for dominance warning for your zoo. If you're in sandbox, you can turn this off So every animal has like a certain amount of males and females and it's entirely dependent on like the zoopedia and what it says. Because if you consider family groups; in the wild, it's just what studies have shown that will actively hang out together in the wild before starting a brand new clan. I think the African buffalo are like this or are pretty similar to my example but it basically means you can only have like two males before they start fighting over all the women. But you can have basically an infinite number of female Buffalo. And you almost kind of want that anyway because Buffalo requires a large amount of animals in their social circle to be happy. Otherwise they'll be upset.

I wish I was allowed to let the animals do their dominance fight without demerits on my stars i love seeing fights part of the whole interesting with these games is seeing the animals act like animals and all dominance is just one of those things

However, also with Buffalo if they have a kid and it happens to be male as soon as it ages up it will become "outsider maturation" which basically means he's kicked out of the group and he will be suffering from severe welfare issues because you might as well have put him in a pin all by himself. All of his resources won't matter to him because he's being blocked from them by the other members of the group. In gameplay theory it's just like a warning that you get, in real life what it would be is that the father of said Buffalo has actively kicked him out of the group and will be violent towards him to keep him away from all of the women because now he is of mature age and can take the women from the dad Buffalo if that makes any sense. That is fair, I have seen a handful of people who do live feedings in their Zoo or whatever, or they just put a completely wrong animal in the habitat to watch, or they'll do like unethical zoos where they'll put a whole buttload of tigers and an elephant exhibit. Whatever brings you joy tbh. It's your game <3 In terms of work zones and stuff like that, I will usually set up what I call R&D staff, R & D stands for Research and Discovery, So basically it's going to be a work zone that literally just includes habitats research centers and workshops that are going to be for a designated veterinarian. That only does research and mechanic that only does workshop, and usually what I will do is I will also add R&D to the front of their name, whatever the game gives them, and change their jobs to limit them to only doing research so they don't wander off doing something else when I need research going on. I'd say about one keeper can handle the workload of two moderately sized habitats. If there's not way more space than the animal needs than they don't have to take extra time to clean it wandering around so it'll work out faster for them to be able to clean it and they won't get as tired, especially if they get trained. It's a lot cheaper to train your staff than it is to just afford a new staff of lower skill level because they work faster and don't get as tired as often. When you train them for half the salary, a brand new person would cost you in the long run. All your staff get paid in February so make sure if you're going to be building that you're not building anywhere near that month or you will suffer a huge financial loss when all of your staff that is on salary gets paid

Penguins and butterflies Specifically, I think it's the swallowtail and cloudless sulfur butterflies Once your cash starts to take off enough where you can handle having carnivores any type of cat will rake and CC's too.
