B is purely conceptually wrong

could you elaborate the field lines cant be confined at the ends theyre also weaker and divergent
SchrodingerBilla
The middle one?? There exist one which goes straight
maya
mayaOP3w ago
but wont they all loop eventually
SchrodingerBilla
No
maya
mayaOP3w ago
lets say theyre straight theyre still not confined
SchrodingerBilla
It means confined na... Limits to a constraint

yeah.. like the part that it wont be straight is correct. but you cant say that they they wont be confined since they form closed loops so it's wrong
SchrodingerBilla
That's What I'm saying
maya
mayaOP3w ago
but we say magnetic field on the toroid is confined bcuz it doesnt “escape out” stays in the structure here theyll form loops outside the solenoid
SchrodingerBilla
The exact middle one is straight na

ye.. i was talking bout the ends yeah i mean it's a skewed q.. couldve been better framed
SchrodingerBilla
True
maya

man unsatisfying so are they not confined or confined
nori
nori3w ago
but yeah maybe someone else could explain better if they were entirely straight they wouldn't have been called confined. since they wont form loops. but since we know that it isnt really staright at the ends and that they form closed loops, it's better to call it confined this is how i understand it idk tho
maya
mayaOP3w ago
so ur saying loops are confined but straight field isnt what i took from it was that by confined they meant the magnetic field being limited to the solenoid structure like how in a toroid it is not being free
nori
nori3w ago
yeah i mean in the literal sense, i get you.. you're saying that they are not confined since they spread out at the ends rigjt
maya
mayaOP3w ago
yeah

hmm this seems right too idk honestly

Yeah, that's what it means. So toroid is a doughnut shaped cheese. Confined means the field is only in a particular place. It's confined to that spot inside the doughnut. That's what loop being confined means in this magnetism physics point of view.

And they form closed loops, they don't go outside of that space.
