Tomato is a vegetable belonging in a class category caleld fruit vegetables. There, you can also see olives, avocados, hot peppers, bell peppers, okra, cucumbers, gherkins, eggplants, zucchini, spaghetti squashes, acorn squashes, pumpkins, and so on. Back to the tomatoes; there are also a couple of varieties of tomatoes called cherry tomatoes and plum tomatoes.
