slow speed for download lmao
Runpod is riddled with bugs. I've already submitted two complaints before. Now it's loading at a snail's pace.

Yeah I'm having similar issues today
a custom image of mine, forked from LoRAX, takes so long to download even the first model file of mistral 7b
that it times out and dies
I've tried like 5 different pods
H100s
all the same issue

So there are three things here.
1. physical locality: if you’re pulling from a source in the U.S. but your pod is in Japan, chances are performance will be poor since TCP doesn’t do well over long distances.
2. source service: some services, like Hugging Face and Docker, cap download speeds no matter how good your network is.
3. secure versus community: secure, especially with our larger partners, tends to perform better than community. We’re always improving our secure partners, and we’ll remove them if their performance doesn’t meet our standards.
Always worth mentioning which datacenter when you have issues like this so people can help verify if its runpod or not
Downloads depend on the third party server to so ideally someone else can then try their thing in the same datacenter and see if thsts fast or slow for them
