Pockets - Topic of the day 8/14/25
Not just a convenient (and delicious) food, pockets have been a part of clothing since people realized they wanted to carry stuff. But what do you think - do you enjoy pockets on shirts, pants, jackets, etc? What features in pockets do you like (e.g. zippers, lining)? How much do aesthetics matter in pockets? What are some of your favorite pockets (yes this means pics)?

great Ken video about pocket design
I know on certain designs/pieces they omit pockets, stitch them shut, or make them smaller but it makes me a lot less likely to wear those pieces usually since it's just an inconvenience
They can also be pretty cool design elements
Honestly, since I mostly dress in women‘s clothing I‘m just glad if I get some that my phone fits into:kyn:
Yeah... I wear some women's pants but usually they either don't have pockets or they're tiny to avoid ruining the silhouette
very few of my clothes are pocketless and im only reflecting on that now
fun visual design element on cargos and a lot of other pieces with utilitarian roots

Love pockets
All sorts
Not much more to say pockets are just rlly cool
I dislike when (hip, slant) pockets have too-small openings, and then when you sit down they do that jeanis thing but as a pocket.
Plus, you can't get your hand/stuff in there comfortably, plus they often then a small pocket bag.
I like it when pants have a single back pocket because I never use the back left one

i love back pockets, but never use them in public for fear of stuff getting nicked
I thought the same thing until I got my black sign vocalion jeans - it’s nice to have two pockets for phone and wallet respectively
I always keep my phone in my front pocket so it doesn't bother me
I love double breast pockets on shirts
I don’t like wearing collared shirts without pockets. just super comvenient
I also really like interior pockets on jackets for storing snacks and goodies
1. the only reason i dont buy womens pants isnt because of gender insecurity stuff but because of the stupid pockets
2. why are apc jeans pockets so shallow
I like this Brut 14 pocket jacket inspired by fishing vests (2 more in the back)

rather tempted by this

Love this jacket, great for travel.

I’m tempted by vintage hunting jackets with the game pocket in back. Feel like it would be fun to fill that thing up at the farmers market.

those vintage hunting jackets are so cool. If they weren’t unwashable and thus stinky I would have so many
for me if i’m wearing a sport coat or a suit jacket or whatever, the thing i look for first is patch pockets, i think they look so fun. in pants, all my pants are vintage and for some (probably explainabke) reason my phone doesn’t fit in the front pockets and will stab me in the belly when i sit down
tbh it’s so hard (for me) to get stuff out of my pockets when wearing high rise
i am. sucker for funky pickets. recently saw a sport coat with a latch to close the pocket shut, and i’m also a huge fan of pockets on western pants, idk what they are called
I’ve got a PRL jacket like this, it’s super useful!
My favorite pockets are the ones on the Gramicci gadget pants, specifically the right hand side. When I first bought the pants I was a little concerned about not having a back pocket, but quickly realized I don't use them that much. The pockets span the entire outside of the leg and end 4 inches above my knee; the right one has a bit of webbing at the top that I clip my keys to. I think they look good and have great functionality, I have a couple pairs of them and plan on getting more colors because I like them so much

I was looking at one on eBay that had like a built in backpack. I regret not grabbing it
I am a sucker for a vest with various/different pockets. This sassafras one is giving me ideas

The tag had a slur on it also, which is part of the reason I hesitated
Yup that’s my fear. I don’t need 5 decade mallard stink in my life.
i dont like back pockets bc i always forget i have smth in them and sit on it
I saw this on Instagram earlier today. Really gave me an appreciation of acronym and I'm tempted to check out some stuff
It looks super well designed functionally
I like when I put on something with no pockets and i just drop everything onto the ground next to me instead of securely into pocket
Pockets are genuinely not a concern for me tho. Everybody knows hot theys carry a bag that can hold a single sunscreen roller and hold their phone in the other hand
more pockets = more fashion
shipping to my house as we speak

cant forget these bad boys on the back as well

I think pockets are great I just really need to up my pocket-sized-thing game
phone key wallet only takes up 3 if you are really pushing it
I'm left handed so I like having two back pockets
I have this (the real McCoys one) and it’s amazing
Im obsessed with girbaud pokachu bags still trying to find one that isn’t too expensive
