I think it would be cool if you could change a plant into a cosmetic. Then, it would sit in the cosmetics inventory and act like one -- basically freeze it in its current state, and can't pick or steal it.

After getting a mutation, you can use a cleaning spray to get rid of them... not sure about preventing mutations
