USB “Drivers” crashing???!!!
Not sure what the problem is. I have a ASU’s laptop advantage edition, so full AMD, which I am told it’s the best brand to use with Bazzite.
I have a a USB keyboard plus a mouse that I use, no dongles wired devices, and suddenly they just stop working, no mouse, no keyboard, no error screen, nothing, not even the laptop’s keyboard or touchpad work. All I can do is do a hard reboot. Any ideas? Thank you

That's not much to go on. Can you do a reboot, then cause a crash, reboot again and post the output of
journalctl -b -1 > sometextfile.txt
and post that here?
That wil make a full log of the previous boot to that textfilei found this error, for now, but i will what you asked after it crashes again, but maybe this is helpful:
Aug 15 20:19:49 bazzite kernel: usb 4-1: device not accepting address 4, error -71
The other log has usb 4-1 errors too, but doesn't tell me anything except there being a problem with it. What image are you on btw? Output of
rpm-ostree status
Could "just" be some asus specific driver on the asus image messing with usb.Ricardo@bazzite:~$ rpm-ostree status

could i somehow disable the usb that it is causing the issues?
Try with the default image and see if it happens on that too.
rpm-ostree rebase ostree-image-signed:docker://ghcr.io/ublue-os/bazzite:stable
How do I change that. I just run that command?
here is the file
i tried this but the laptop didnt reboot when it asked, it just stay locked, i had to power reboot
i think that i have found the solution after a lot of research, it seems the problem is the autosuspend of the USBs, i have now disable it by running the command below, i will keep monitoring, if it does not happen again i will close this "ticket".
sudo rpm-ostree kargs --append-if-missing="usbcore.autosuspend=-1"
thank you for the help
Well running the commands just made it a lot worst
I supposed bazzite is not working for me. I’ll just go back to windows. Linux is still far behind. Not to it’s own fault, it’s just there isn’t enough support for drivers and software
It’s a shame, I do prefer Linux, but I am forced to use windows.
if there is a solution for this i would be happy to go back and try it out.
i am now trying fedora 42 , i just manually made some tweaks for gaming, and so far so good, no issues with my USBs
There's no usb issues in the logs you sent either. Not sure what's causing the crash though. Looks like an amdgpu issue on a fast scrollthrough.
not sure what it is, but it is something on bazzite for sure, i am still on fedora and i have installed the same software used by bazzite including ROGCC, and no problems so far, and when i check the logs there is no error like this one "Aug 15 20:19:49 bazzite kernel: usb 4-1: device not accepting address 4, error -71". so i am keeping use fedora for now.
thank you very much for you help
I having the same issue about the USB.
I did the journalctl and found the hiddraw/hiddev got an input/output error.
Also found that the driver after crash cannot be readed.
This didn't happened to me before, so I must assume is a Bazzite's kernel error.
Or maybe libusb?
no, not related to usb
looks like the compositor crashed
consider disabling the igpu if you don't plan on using your laptop while unplugged
or just try and see if you can replicate the issue with the igpu disabled and vice versa(i.e. with the dgpu disabled)
How it's not related when i found abt the hiddev failing searching usb on the log? /GenQ
because all your apps coredumped
also consider not using discord canary
wayland support is already in discord stable
i urge you to try this first
What does that mean and relate with the problem of USB not working?
Because the kwin compositor didn't seem to fail, or maybe i'm wrong.

Search on my own journalctl log and found that, so I'm gonna try apply abt the igpu.
How i disable it? With the supergfx?
uefi
ujust bios
go there, there should be an option to disable the igpMy bios doesn't have that option sadly.
damn
I'm gonna try on testing branch meanwhile.
Or rollback the version before the error.
by chance, does the issue occur after a suspend?
since i do see your amdgpu SMU waking up before stuff started coredumping
I need to clarify original poster and I aren't the same person.
oh ye
I'm searching by my own log.
I'm searching the smu coredump but didn't found anything than successful.
just search SMU
it wouldn't coredump because it isn't a process
or search amdgpu
Nah my case isn't my igpu.
Nothing seems to be related to it.
mind posting the logs?
Okay.
thank you
It's a long file so sorry about inconvenience, I would do it on fresh start but don't knew what caused the crash.
try disabling overclocking first
you have overclocking enabled
strangely ddcutil is coredumping
so i'd wager it is still something related to display
You mean lactl?
yep
Tho is strange if it's overclock(underclock in my case)/display related, since it didn't happened before.
But I don't lose anything trying.
👍
Meanwhile in the testing branch nothing happened yet.
But I may prefer a stable image.
dunno, it may also be a one off
Maybe you are right and it's display related.
No, it happened again.
at least we got fresh logs now💀
Maybe i'll stick with testing meanwhile.
ujust get-logs
and paste the links hereNvm i was false alarm.
It was false alarm becausd checked the logs with the ujust as you said and nothing appeared like the hidraw/hiddev failing.
And it worked again.
Lol.
💀
My chungus life man.
