Wardrobe overhaul

Hi im starting uni and want to have a versatile wardrobe that I wont regret. I feel like I have a pretty good idea of what I want to dress like and I have been slowly been building a solid wardrobe with more "timeless pieces" but tbh before I got more into clothing I thought that the way I dressed was good but it was actually horrible.

I feel like now I have a sense as to what looks good but I have felt that way before so any advice from someone with more experience would be very helpful just so I can avoid investing in something that I might regret. I am mainly looking for advice on pieces that are more timeless and for everyday like socks, shirts, shoes and accessories use but Im keeping an open mind to anything.
