Brand Spotlight: Lemaire - Topic of the day 8/19/25
Between Lemaire's eponymous line and the long-running collaboration with Uniqlo, Lemaire has a lot of buzz about it, but what do you think of the brand? What are your favorite or least favorite pieces? Is it worth the cost? Have you noticed any changes (in design, QA, etc) since the brand has become more mainstream?

not a lemaire beast but they do a great job of making fairly minimal clothing that's still interesting and loaded with design touches
i’m a lemaire beast and yeah what awz said
Remarkably easy to find stuff on sale or second hand, but unfortunately the dupes have become popular so it’s too scary for me to buy second hand anymore
wearing 3 lemaire pieces as I type this, a little working harmonica necklace, tank top, and black judo pants.

also, the boxy jacket is a perfect garment.
I want one badly
Also the twisted pants but in theory the inseam is too short for me
big fan, own multiple jackets, pants, shirts
imo the necklaces are really the unsung soul of the brand adding a sense of playfulness and joy to the catalogue

That tape measure one is great
Ugh I have been looking for the bird call necklaces nonstop
good
Lemaire? Yeah I love :uniqlo:
“lemaire -uniqlo”
I would love to be proven wrong about this, but I think this may be the first "object" based necklace that lemaire did back around fw12?

pen i'm guessing?
They did a series of compass based jewelry around then as well as a collab with a Japanese company

Yeah pen
have you seen the ones from the maker they collabed with? https://www.qbc.fr/index.php?language=en not quite the same but you could probably paint, and obviously much cheaper
birds calls - Quelle est Belle Company - bird call and birds - aven...
Observation and Protection of Nature, Educational Toys, since 1980. Birds calls to learn how to talk to the birds. Birds calls for music. Birds calls for the games. bird call, song of birds, learning sounds, exploring the nature
I've gifted these to a few friends but do not own one myself!
to continue the broader convo, love the brand, stuff they design is great, Sarah lynn is a goat in terms of person styling and doesnt get enough credit. I think they are cheeky as fuck with the collabs in terms of how expensive they are, and often how they arent adding much value. Also pricing is creeping up and up, and lot of sticker shock on newer things.
My favorite designer to wear
Clothes-oriented - as in, most everything they make is designed to be actually wearable and serve a function, but is also designed to be beautiful and interesting. They have a warmth and softness that I think is missing from most other designers who would have the adjective "minimal" associated with them
They design a bit like an industrial designer at times as well, with a mostly seasonless approach that emphasizes modularity of items, color pallette, silhouettes. Their design process usually starts by incorporating pieces from old seasons and vintage pieces they found to build up silhouettes, before refining details and colors - this to me has helped their clothes from several years ago still seem somewhat contemporary
I also like their approach to gender re: clothing - there is an open and inviting spectrum of designs with a very large explicitly unisex line, and pieces that range from military/workwear influenced designs to more flowy and romantic designs. They are not making any loud statements about gender (or much else for that matter) but feels like they simply have clothes that anyone can wear who wants to wear them
Seconding the feedback around cost increases not being really grounded in quality to justify them, and wish they were more size inclusive
Really love their collabs in general even if most of them (such as the new carl auböck one) are stupid expensive. They will also not hesitate to do collabs with everyday brands like Clarks or Wrangler
Also amazing collabs and events with musicians (ana roxanne, kali malone, Valentina magaletti, etc) and have great Spotify playlists
I think their color choices are underrated / underappreciated
Their shoes should be better built
Denim should be selvedge
Wish their knits didn't (sometimes) use dralon
i like lemaire but wouldnt buy it
in another life where i was born wealthy i probably would tho
And all of these combined can’t outswag the Ziggy jacket
:letsfuckinggo:
