BSOD when trying to load plasma
After the latest update I got a BSOD
And now I can't load into plasma without getting another BSOD steam game mode works fine though

hmm try forcing a filesystem check on startup
you can do that by adding
fsck=force
to the kernel's command line if you know how to do that
also you can try rolling back the OSWell I tried checking the journal in a tty and there was only one line from the last boot and it was a coredump

Fsck skips btrfs file systems I believe which is what bazzite uses
Hmm a rollback with
rpm-ostree rollback
doesn't help either
Looks like steam isn't working actually I thought it was just not showing on my tv because of the usual HDMI to display port issues I get (sometime it doesn't show a signal)
But I unplugged my TV and I still get a back screen on my monitor so it looks like steam isn't loading either
So I'm just stuck on a black screen on boot I can switch to a tty but trying to switch to plasma gives me another kennel panic so not sure what to do now
tried running btrfs check from a live usb to see if it was myabe a filesystem corruption and nope cam back fine also i could read and write to the disk fine so the disk doesn't seem to be the issueOk got something interesting in the journal

Well this gets even stranger I was able to get into plasma with
steamos-session-select plasma
But the desktop doesn't fully load and Internet doesn't work but I can open apps
I tried moving my .config and .local folder to simulate a plasma config reset and no luck same thing
What was in this cursed update ðŸ˜
Edit:Internet works fine on my windows install and booting a live USB of Ubuntu also successfully connects to the internet
Guess I'm just going to have to reinstall though I don't want to lose my home partition
yeeeeeeeah
stramge
I'm just going to reinstall bazzite for like the 3rd time 😔
But I need to go through the ordeal that is backing up your home folder with mixed
Permissions (distrobox and waydroid store there files as root)
Permissions (distrobox and waydroid store there files as root)
what if you use a different user?
does plasma work there
i don't think you can use another user on the bazzite deck image
though this is the deck image
it disables sddm
it doesn't
what it does is use autologin
anyway i moved out the .config and .local folders from my home which created fresh ones that should be pretty close to doing a new user and loging in to that
i'm thinking it might be something like mesa's shader cache
i think thats in .cache ? i tried deleting that to with no luck
did you take a look at the logs?
yeah found a lot of crash dumps like this but other then that nothing that would tell me why everything is crashing
oh i just had an idea on how i could upload the logs I could pipe it to a file and copy that file to a usb and upload the log on a computer that does have internet let me try that
very curious about why this is
huh thats strange im not even getting the full journal anymore with
sudo journalctl -ab 0
... that is the right way to get a full jorunal of the current boot right?
Yeah that's pretty much what I used except the no hostname it didn't make a difference.
I'm just going to give up on this install I think it's broken beyond saving. I'm trying to reinstall while keeping all my data and configs intact and it's not going well either
