Wired connection failed (but Wi-Fi works)

So I have this strange issue. I can see the wired connection in the menu and system settings. But after a while, it just fails and I have to use Wi-Fi unless I reboot and the cycle repeats. Output from spci -k | grep -A 3 -i ethernet:
09:00.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation Ethernet Controller I225-V (rev 03)
DeviceName: Intel I225 2.5G LAN
Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Device 87d2
Kernel driver in use: igc

Any idea why this could happen? The board is:
