External Monitor Resolution Incorrect in Games
Hello,
Using the most up-to-date version of stable KDE via Bazzite, my games are not allowing the native 1920x1080 resolution of my external display to be used (built-in resolution is 2560x1600), and are forcing awkward, unusual resolutions. The primary game I'm having the issue with is Warframe.
I have tried forcing 1080 via the Steam advanced display settings, game-specific Steam settings, and also toggled off/on "Automatically Set Resolution" in the Display settings. For other information, I usually disable "Automatically Set Resolution" and select 1920x1080@120, because when automatic is selected, it defaults my external monitor to 90hz instad of the max of 120hz. Not sure if there's a solution to that, also?
Thank you!

what resolutions
you said it's in game mode?
Hello!
My built-in display is 2560x1600@144hz and my external is 1920x1080@120.
I'm currently reading the scopebuddy info that you posted (linked below), which seems like it may solve my issues.
https://docs.bazzite.gg/Advanced/scopebuddy/
ScopeBuddy - Bazzite Documentation
Bazzite is a custom image built upon Fedora Atomic Desktops that brings the best of Linux gaming to all of your devices.
I additionally use the lossless scaling plugin, requiring "~/lsfg %command%" in all games launch options, which it sounds like it could do for me instead of needing ot put it manually in every game?
scopebuddy has nothing to do with gamemode
the linked information states that everything scopebuddy does in desktop mode will work in gamemode, or am I misunderstanding it?
oh
well it might
It says it has separate configs for desktop vs. gamemode.
I will never use desktop mode outside of setting up mods.
i still don't really understand ur issue
my question was what resolutions ur games were appearing at
gamemode is always gamescope
Games are showing lower resolutions than the 1080 native of my external display.
in gamemode.
what resolutions
Second to check.
1280x800
1680x1050
960x600
1440x900
all on one game?
Yes. Warframe.
u can try
sd0 %command%
If I select borderless fullscreen, it "defaults" to 1920x1080, but then my display wigs out and has all sorts of graphical glitches.
where do I run that?
launch options
in gamemode?
?
doesn't matter
in steam
ok
for the game
Game Launchers - Bazzite Documentation
Bazzite is a custom image built upon Fedora Atomic Desktops that brings the best of Linux gaming to all of your devices.
using that did not change anything. the game still defaults to 1680x1050
^
are u sure u put it in launch options
picture?

The "Game Resolution" is currently at Default, but I've tried Native and 1920x1080.
^
game resolution at 1920x1080?
if that's available then just select that
that's what u want isnt it
It's not available in game, I mean the setting right above the launch options shown in my picture.
is it available ingame if u set that setting
Some other people online have recommended changing that between Default, Native, and 1080, none of which change the options available in-game.
No^
well unlike the other thread u pinged me in this has nothing to do with ur desktop environment scaling because u aren't using a desktop environment here
u can try forcing it with gamescope flags for sure
what are gamescope flags?
If it were in desktop mode, how would you solve the issue using scopebuddy?
differently
syntax is different in desktop vs gamemode
but feel free to try stuff
Per the scopebuddy page: Does ScopeBuddy work inside Steam Gamemode?¶
Yes!
When scopebuddy detects that steam is running in gamemode, it will force SCB_NOSCOPE=1 and SCB_CONF=gamemode.conf this means that you can set custom options that will only be used in gamemode while keeping game specific options!
This means you can use scopebuddy to automatically handle using nested gamescope when in desktop mode and not utilizing gamescope when inside gamemode.
No more manually adding and removing gamescope from launch options when you switch between gamemode and desktop mode! 🎉
go ahead and update on whatever u try and what the results are
I don't really understand how to add or manage the configs that it talks about adding above.
scopebuddygui
Ok...I'll try to fiddle around when I get home.
