Read-only archive support – rationale behind write-access requirement?
Hi – I’m exploring Immich for a large photo archive and noticed that write-access is required even for indexing bind-mounted folders.
I’d like to understand the rationale behind this design choice. Is there a technical reason why read-only access isn’t supported for archive-style usage?
I’ll post a feature request on GitHub if this isn’t already being considered – just wanted to ask here first.

If this ticket can be closed you can use the /close
command, and re-open it later if needed.External libraries can work with a ro (read only) flag
Or I misunderstood what you mean with bind-mounted folders
Yes that they are. But I can't see how to make these available in immich and have them indexed, an face recognised etc
https://immich.app/docs/guides/external-library/
It's all here
And within Immich you set their path here https://my.immich.app/admin/library-management
Thanks
I'll dive into it tomorrow. Past midnight here
Correction: I did it. It works, thanx
you can /close the ticket if you want 🙂
