What would the overshirt in this photo would be called
Saw this photo from an interview with Hiroki Nakamura from 2009 and I've been trying to figure out what the overshirt thing he's wearing is. Because of the angle I feel like I'm not seeing enough detail, and I can't find any other picture with the same outfit. Doesn't have to be the exact product, just like, what it would be called. Looks vaguely like either a utility jacket or a chore coat but people with more knowledge might have a better description
(Bonus if you can tell if those pants are corduroy or not bc it almost looks like it but idk if its the photo quality)

Hi @kewlpinguino! For better answers, include:
- Reference pictures
- Budget in numbers
- Specific measurements
- Openness to buying secondhand and/or online
- Location: country/continent is fine
- Timing/urgency
The pants look to me like corduroy (hard to say for certain from the picture)
The shirt looks like it may be a HBT material which makes me think it may be some form of milsurp or milsurp inspired shirt
yeah i was thinking it looked like surplus but idk what to actually call it beyond like, military olive shirt jacket
honestly looking at this is frustrating me a lot bc i like the outfit but i cant tell so much, like is he wearing a button up under the sweater? I think I see a collar peeking out under the scarf but its just so hard to make out
He's wearing a military overshirt in olive Herringbone twill with a grey sweatshirt or waffle knit and a neck gaiter thats basically a keffiyeh. It's probably all visvim or obscure vintage but this isn't that hard to recreate at whatever budget.
agree with chopper the shirt is either obscure vintage given the elbow patches, or it's old season visvim that isn't made any more
Bronson/olderbest/nonstock probably have every item here at affordable prices.
Thx everyone. I looked at the s/s 09 lineup this was promoting and didn’t see it but it would make sense that itd be older
this is older but you can look through brutus and popeye mags and similar for inspo
ametora is also a seminal read for this americana style

jacket looks like visvim kilgore
Damn good eye, that does like it. In the photo you can’t see the pockets but the details on the elbow and cuff look right
