Move server without downtime?

Hey, I know how I can technically transfer the library folder + the database from Server A to B and change the DNS records etc. to move it. However is there a good way to do this without downtime? Or as less downtime as possible? Some way to i.e. keep the library in sync until the final switchover in case someone uploads to Immich while the migration process is ongoing?

There are good ways. But if you have to ask the answer is no 😅

You can pretty easily do it with like 5 min of downtime if you practice. Use rsync to move the files in bulk. then do a database dump and practice how to restore once ready, do a fresh DB dump, shutdown the first server, do a final rsync (should be very quick), restore DB and startup

(except the DNS part, DNS propagation can take a while)

if you have local DNS setup just set the TTL to 1 min today then do it tomorrow
