Spread collar without tie casually?

I feel a little silly asking this, but I'm eyeing a shirt that I like the look of, except it has a spread collar and I can't tell if that would work for me, since I don't wear ties and many people say they look bad/too big without a tie. Honestly it doesnt even look like the type of shirt you would wear a tie with. (fwiw id wear the top button open)

This is my opinion but, these kind of collars really suck. Even on a dress shirt with a tie. Long point without a huge spread is ideal. Its just very hard to find because everything has this skimpy little collar. But, if you like the shirt, you should get it and not worry about the collar. Everyone else will see it as a normal shirt and it is a perfectly normal shirt.

yeah its a subjective thing for sure. most of my collared shirts are button-down or the same size collar as a button-down (not sure the exact term lol)

i do agree though that with a tie it honestly looks even weirder, unless you have a super thick knot

It won't look odd, to get to your question The spread collar is pretty much made for a suit jacket - so the points disappear under the jacket

ahh that would make sense

And it looks good on/in a suit or with jacket

I think the texture sells it as a casual shirt, so the lack of tie will seem a little less glaring

that was my thought too, like what kind of tie would you wear with it anyway

Ask away As long as one is not being a dick or impatient with waiting for an answer, you're good
