How do I install dotnet 8 on here?

A game ive been playing all week (Vintage Story) just updated today and I can't work this out. I've been running the previous version I got through Bazaar but the Bazaar version is now outdated and I just want to run it through the files from the site but it keeps throwing up I don't have dotnet 8.0.19 installed despite installing the thing and the install command telling me it's installed. oh and "dotnet --list-runtimes" says it's not installed either.
