Massive random later shift after first layer

I just finished the physical build on my VC4 400 and after running through the calibrations I kicked off a simple test print. Every time it prints the first layer well then just randomly shifts a couple inches and attempts to print the second layer in a seemingly random location. The attached pictures are 2 attempts about 15 minutes apart. My printer is far from being fully dialed in but I'm not sure what would cause this. I'm running orca slicer and used one of the built in profiles.

layer shifts point to something mechanical. Double check your pulleys are tighted against a shaft, that a stepper isn't skipping, belts aren't flapping, stuff like that.

This ended up being due to the BTT Kraken board I was running. I am not sure if it was a config issue or what, but I swapped it for an Octopus 1.1 and it fixed all my issues. I didn't change belt tension or anything other than swap the board and re-run the configurator and the print completed.

busted driver circuits not giving enough amps to the steppers maybe. Shrug
