motor/gear sizing/type questions
I feel like this should be simple for the qualified people here.
I have a 2 inch (OD) aluminum tube with a projector screen and a tubular motor inside that works fine (for now).
But the motor is old and can only be controlled via the manufacturer's RF remote.
(I tried to decode the codes with an esp32 but could not get the motor to accept my codes).
The motor is 16rpm, 10NM
Here is the motor https://www.metechs.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=416608
Anyway I thought it would be simple to just buy a standard dc brushed motor and (somehow) attach a gear or pulley to the 2 inch tube.
So anyone have any suggestions for the type and size of motor to try? I'd want to build a controller to roll the screen up or down via esphome.
Any suggestions on how I could attach the motor to the 2 inch tube? Something like this might work but I have no clue on what to search for and where.
Any starting points would be helpul.

I’m NOT near being qualified or have any experience with any of this stuff, but I think you should get a 12–24V DC gearmotor around 15–20 RPM with at least 10 N·m torque, and attach it to your tube, I may be wrong 😑.
I'm game for trying any kind if cheap motor but first I need to attach some kind of gear or sprocket to the 2 inch tube. Either in the tube or on the outside.
Does anyone have a good resource for sourcing that kind of hardware?
Same deal as earlier I think you should use a 2-inch (50 mm) sleeve adapter that fits inside your tube on one side and onto the motor’s shaft on the other side, this may be wrong
Any suggestion on where to find such a thing. Searching amazon for this stuff returns too much and nothing relevant
I have no idea, try eBay or websites that sell diy electronics parts like adafruit maybe. Hardware stores like Lowe’s may have the sleeve adapters.
