Sorry for the second post. But, need help with doom 3 an quake IV mouse an launching issue
Hi, I was able to move the mouse in wine version an typed in the CD keys an selected ok to continue for doom 3. But, can't move the mouse in game after selecting ok to continue.
For quake IV I can't launch the game through wine 10.13. but, can in proton.
So I can't proceed with quake IV.
What do I do?
I'm on redcore linux.

So it seems to be a in-game mouse issue

What version of the game is this? O_o
(I ask only because I know for a fact the GOG versions of both these games work just fine)

OK, so I installed the original Doom 3 (I've been playing the BFG Edition) and I think I know what's going on: you need to kick the game out of fullscreen mode (Alt+Enter should do the trick) and then the mouse will work again. You need to match the game resolution to your desktop resolution before the mouse will work in fullscreen (or at least that's what it took for Quake 4), but the origfinal Doom 3 release doesn't offer any widescreen resolutions. I used the dhewm3 source port for that and told Heroic to use it as an alternative exe. You also need to install vcrun2022 through winetricks before it'll run.

Cool I try that out.
The version is 1.3.1
The enhanced edition I use for doom 3
Oh so I need to install VC run files too.

Yeah, the first time I tried to run dhewm3 it refused to launch and the logs indicated something140.dll being missing, which is a telltale sign you don’t you have the most recent runtimes installed (base doom3 doesn’t need them, so they don’t get installed). A quick trip in to winetricks fixed that. There’s also a native Linux build of dhewm3, but I didn’t try that.

Good to know I remember that for next time it happens.
Forgotten it need VC run files, lol
Any others I need?

Not that I could tell. Once I had dhewm3 and vcrun2022 installed, and heroic set to launch it as an alternative exe, it fired right up, let me set it to full screen and the mouse worked just fine. Quake 4 and the BFG Edition of Doom 3 let you select 16:9 full screen resolutions from within their UIs and don’t have this problem.

Sweet. Awesome.
So vcrun 2003 to 2022 that be easy to install
Still giving me problems
Even after installing vcrun
I'm using the gog version
I got my age of mythology in game mouse to work under proton.

You should only need vcrun2022 for dhewm3, did you extract the files in to your Doom 3 install folder and tell Heroic to run it as an alternative exe? (You'll need to use the correct path for your system. If you haven't changed it it'll be in your home folder). You still need to match the game resolution with your desktop (which means running it in windowed mode to begin with), the source port just lets you access those options from within the UI.

So my second PC works well with doom 3 an quake IV.
Not sure why it won't work well on my Lenovo legion go handheld
Went ahead to install gamescope an game mode
Looks like doom 3 works now
Yup both games now work
