Immich v1.139+ crashes shortly after starting up
I'm experiencing an issue where the process seems to simply exit around 20 seconds after fully starting up. For those 20 seconds, I can use the web UI as normal, and the server dies, with docker logs showing
and nothing else (no crash report). Docker then restarts the immich_server and the cycle continues.
I first experienced this upgrading to v1.139 (can't remember the patch version), so I downgraded to v1.138.1 (which didn't have the issue). I've now upgraded to v1.140.1 and the issue is back.

Information
In order to be able to effectively help you, we need you to provide clear information to show what the problem is. The exact details needed vary per case, but here is a list of things to consider:
- Your docker-compose.yml and .env files.
- Logs from all the containers and their status (see above).
- All the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far.
- Any recent changes you've made to Immich or your system.
- Details about your system (both software/OS and hardware).
- Details about your storage (filesystems, type of disks, output of commands like fdisk -l
and df -h
).
- The version of the Immich server, mobile app, and other relevant pieces.
- Any other information that you think might be relevant.
Please paste files and logs with proper code formatting, and especially avoid blurry screenshots.
Without the right information we can't work out what the problem is. Help us help you ;)
If this ticket can be closed you can use the /close
command, and re-open it later if needed.I'll also note that some recent photos have failed to generate thumbnails (and the job used to be paused for some reason but now it just says 1 failed). But I think that's a separate issue because I was trying to upload images while the server was in the crash-loop :p

I'm running on a Pi 4 and my disks aren't full
Update: It seems to only crash when I try to regenerate thumbnails for any image. I have to do this manually by selecting them - pressing the Missing button on the Jobs page doesn't attempt to regenerate them. Once that happens, it restarts in a loop :/
same
same problem here with v.1.140.1 after starting web upload more then 100 images. Before uploading the files everything was fine since upgrade (from v.1.136). Is there a way back to a more stable release?
I just reinstalled, and I have the same issue...
add this to your .env
you are an absolute legend, thank you so much - that's saved my Immich install <3
I wonder how did you find that workaround?
It was posted in the duplicate issue your issue has been closed in favor of :P
