Vanilla Upgrades: Crash on Deconstructing Power Storage
Hey, all. Was just managing my factory, trying to move some stuff, including removing some of my power storage to place it elsewhere. Instead of being surprised with a power blowout, I was instead jumpscared with a CTD.
Not exactly certain what would be causing this, exactly. But, I've attached the following (in order of attachments) to hopefully debug this issue:
- A Debug Zip from SMM
- My SMM Profile
- My most recent save file
- My CrashReportClient.log
- My FactoryGame.log
- My Modlist

-# shhhhh, fred, this was happening both with and without that update
This is also happening both when it is and isn't connected to the rest of my factory's power system. So, it's not like EVERYTHING is shutting off and it's just too much for the game to handle.
For future reference, your modlist is included in the debug zip
gotchagotcha
(as is your factorygame.log)
(and everything which goes in crashreport.log is included in the factorygame.log)
Thought it was best to be thorough.
Yep, just letting you know for if there's a next time - the zip is generally all that's needed 🙂
-# with my track record, 'next time' will be within the next hour
You say it happens whether it's connected to the rest of your grid or not - does that mean you've tried it with the power storage literally connected to nothing?
Are there multiple power storages? Do they all do it?
Connected to absolutely nothing, and yes, they all do it.
Deconstructing new ones also CTD's.
Hm. Are you wearing any modded equipment?
Does the Grappling Hook count?
Digby Tool?
probably not, I see you have rocket runners installed though
Nope.
Went right back to stock Blades 'cause they're
-# a little bit excessive, as much as they're beautiful movement jank
So I don't see anything in your list which feels super likely to interact with power storage. Have you tried it without mods?
The only thing that does interact with storage is uhh
Vanilla Upgrades
At the moment, I have it T1'd for Power Storage, turning the 100 MWh capacity and charge rate to 250
Huh interesting, didn't know that

that certainly seems like a good one to try disabling first, although I'd still be tempted to check the crash doesn't happen without mods enabled at all
I can quickly uninstall and see if that fixes it
It might be vanilla upgrades, tbh. I've seen it before but the crash makes no sense
-# digby, i love you man
-# but why does everything i touch that you've made
-# immediately break
Yes, it was VU
I assure you, this is not the usual Digby experience
his bugs are fully concentrated in your PC
I'll dig into tonight or tomorrow
Digby's sent the PC goblin hit squad after my Satisfactory save for wasting too many hours grapplehooking instead of playing the Factory Game
Understood
No rush, you literally just fixed MLB after all
i can just load w/o VU, remove them, save, apply VU, and restart
-# oh wait that would remove any VU progress I've gotten wouldn't it :pain:
It would
-# fine i'll just use rearchitector for now
Oh no, you'll break that one, too!
about that one, chief

:iamsmoking:
-# if it makes you feel any better, i'm basically acting as free playtesting for your mods atp :Kek:
-# god fucking damn it not even SMM is free from what is either your or my curse
-# tried to install constant geotherm power
-# immediate CTD with SMM
It fixed itself immediately
but still
Wow one of your ancestors really must have pissed off a witch with very specific interests at some point
i think i am currently pissing off many witches with minds of metal and wheels
-# many, many witches

but, I digress
I can't get it to crash
Nm
It waits for a second
and then crashes
I dismantled like 4 before it crashed
What's weird is that I'm almost certain I've made, dismantled, and moved VU'd batts before, and nothing happened
Not sure if I fixed it or if I just can't make it crash again
I could just be misremembering this, though, as I've used batts with and without VU'ing them before in this save
So I could be mistaking that for a time I moved batts before I upgraded them
So yeah, I think I fixed it but it still doesn't make sense to me
Please give the update a try and let me know
Was helping a friend with their Satisfactory stuff, cheking it out now
Seems to be green.
Clarification again. Thanks for fixing it, my man.
Sweet
-# I'm still not forgiving you for the goblin hit squad
