auto-splitter updates?
Hi guys, I hope I'm not being redundant. I'm having a lot of trouble with conveyor belts in the game because I can't decide how many items to output from one of the outputs without having to add several splitters. I discovered Auto Splitter as a mod, but I saw that it hasn't been updated in ages. I then discovered IntelliSplitters, which seems more up to date, but I don't know if it works. Does anyone know if there are currently any working alternatives?

If this isn't the mod you were looking for, try a different spelling.

Hm, I can't find any record of a mod called IntelliSplitters
Hello, I found it on GitHub. Here is the link.

Doesn't seem to have ever been finished or published
generally you want to be searching in SMM or on ficsit.app
Anything that might suit me?
I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for - ratios, rates?
>mod advanced logistics
This might suit your purposes though

I would like to be able to manually decide how many items to output from each belt splitter output.
>mod throughput counter and limter
or using this after splitters to get set speeds

If this isn't the mod you were looking for, try a different spelling.
For example, if an mk3 conveyor belt transports 300 items per minute, I connect a splitter and would like to be able to set output 1 to output 30 items per minute, output 2 to output 60 items per minute, and output 3 to output the remaining items.
Yeah I don't believe there's currently a mod which does that all in one splitter (without doing some coding in Ficsit Networks)
but placing limiters after exits from a standard splitter will function the same
What do you mean? A limiter? Is it a mod?
Yes, I linked it above
How does it work exactly? It limits one of the outputs to 30 (for example), but will the splitter still divide 50/50 - 33.3/33.3/33.3?
Yes, but splitters will always output wherever they can, so once it's backed up because of the belts being limited, the overflow will all go onto the other belt
Would one of the splitter outputs still be blocked? What would happen to the other 1/2 outputs if connected?
I think I answered that just before you asked it, but please do ask if you need further clarification
Okay, I apologise. What about advanced logistics? What changes in practical terms?
Advanced Logistics uses ratios instead of per-minute figures, so it probably doesn't suit your needs
For your example. you'd actually only need one limiter to make it work, as you listed 60/min as one of the rates - and a mark 1 belt is functionally the same as any other belt limited to 60/min
If I do a mathematical calculation knowing how many items come out of the output, I can enter an accrual value so that the quantities I need come out anyway. Does it all do it in a single splitter?
yes
Basically, I am creating an electric coal base. I have a belt that transports 320 per minute. I have lined up 8 generators that can take 30 coal per minute as input. However, the belt at level 1 transports 60, which would mean that the generators would never receive any coal, especially the last ones. Furthermore, I had created this very minimal and efficient design, so I did not want to add a second splitter to limit the belt to half of 60, and therefore 30.

So you can use what's called a manifold - once machines are full, the exit will back up and all the remainer will go on to the next exit
as long as the belt can carry enough coal for all of the generators, eventually it will stabilise and run just fine
Or, if you use advanced logistics and their adjustable splitters you can do a balanced manifold where you don’t have to wait for everything to fill up first
Yes, in theory, but since the generators consume more than the drill can extract, nothing will ever reach the last generators.
Oh, you probably want less generators then 😆
which was exactly what Sam was advising me to do, and at this point, I was considering installing
I'd say reliable power is what really matters, so either underclock or turn off generators until your coal consumption matches the production
In theory, if the drill extracts 320 coal per minute, and 8 generators consume 30 per minute, 8x30 = 320. Ergo, the drills manage to extract just enough for the generators to prevent accumulation and ensure that there is no coal left over. This way, I can use more generators and produce the maximum amount of energy that can be supplied by a single drill, while ensuring that each belt can carry a maximum of 30 to each generator. But here comes my problem.
So you intend to fill all the generators with a stack of coal, and then turn them all on, so that even if the belts transport more, the surplus will always be distributed to all the generators?
You can do, or they will fill themselves over time anyway
Personally I'm one of the rare players who load balances everything, which takes a bit more space
Or, you can just put an adjustable splitter instead of a regular one before each machine, send one to the machine and then 7 down the line to the rest for the first machine
1 to the second machine then 6 down the line from that splitter
And so on until the second last machine where you can just have a regular splitter and send one to each from there
I also load balance everything, but often use adjustable splitters for it so I can have completely balanced manifolds from the start in a lot less space
I also prefer this method of play, which is why I always have all these problems. But this requires much more space and less order. That's why I wanted to see if there was a mod that would suit my needs. Auto-splitter did just that, but it's deprecated.
Just to expand on this a little bit, assuming you have a belt which can carry 320/min hitting the first splitter, with a 60/min belt off to the right and a 290+/min belt going straight on - this is what will happen.
60 will go to the right, 30 of which is consumed, leading to it overfilling at a rate of 30/min.
260/min will go straight on.
That'll fill up in about 3 minutes. At that point, only 30/min will be able to go right to replace the 30/min burned by the generator, so 290/min will go straight on.
It really sounds like Advanced Logistics and their Adjustable Splitters are what you’re looking for
A ratio splitter would work well, because you can set the first to send 1 right and 7 straight on, the second 1 right and 6 straight on, and so on
Yes, that’s what I keep saying you can do with the Adjustable Splitters
Great, looks like I know what I'll be doing today. Could you kindly tell me two things, even though I know I'm being redundant and I'm sure there are 20 guides for this. Does multiplayer work? Do I need a mod manager to install them, or can I just put the folders in the game folder? If multiplayer works, does my friend need to install the mod too?
