Has anybody faced database upgrade being stuck at "Preparing new server"
I pressed upgrade and it resulted in outage for hours..

Unfortunately this kind of error is elevated right now. It is random for the past month or so.
Support is the only solution.
Thanks Gary. I filed a support ticket, but waiting 1~2 business days costs too much for users..
I still appreciate Discord supports
I'm afraid if the database would be offline for days
Did you at least get back your support ticket so you know email was received.
Are you Pro?
Yes I did. Ticket id is SU-248965
Are you Pro?
Yes I am
K. Can't escalate over support for 2 hours, but if they don't get back to you later today flag again and I'll mention it to our SB contact, but even they can't escalate all individual issues.
Fair. Thank you Gary
They do have an escalation queue for these issues in support so should have gone right to the infra team, versus sitting around for support themselves to be in the loop.
I get the same issue, stuck on Upgrading in progress for more than 24 hours. I'm pro, and created multiple support tickets, but no response

Did you get email response at least?
What region (instance) are you both in?
I didn't get any response from support, other than automated ticket creation.
That is what I meant.
I'm in AWS | us-east-1
I'm testing that region on an upgrade right now.
Why don't you drop your ticket # here in case this gets bumped up.
This is a fresh ticket from today - SU-249035,
SU-248444, this was created 27 hours ago
Mine in us-east-1 completed so not a mass thing.
I'll point this thread out, but it is an informal path as not a mass outage.
Is there a way to restart it or get more info on why it's stuck, and unstuck it somehow?
Not that anyone has found. Supabase has been chasing this elevated occurrence of lock ups for weeks for things like backup restore, pause, pause/restore and upgrade. A few reports I see publicly a day. High enough they have a queue right to infra team as each instance has to be "touched" to fix the issue (or possibly multiple different issues).
Got it, thank you for the help!
I have a question. Should I delete the database and create a new one from the backup? Users are complaining
I'm not sure if Supabase will delete the server that is upgrading because otherwise I'll have to pay for both
Sorry, I can't tell you if that will work or not. I would think paying for both for a few days is the least of your worries though.
In the same org they would only bill you for extra compute while you use it.
Just checked it the upgrade is now reverted
Users can now use the product
Thank you for elevating the issue
Hmm, my project is still stuck.
Same error here
