Valo Crash
I’m having an issue in Valorant. Whenever I try to pick an agent, specifically Chamber, the game crashes a few seconds after I lock him in. This has already happened about 4 times, and it only occurs with Chamber. When I pick any other agent, the game doesn’t crash.

hey @pendejitis we are actively investigating, if possible could you try to check if valorant was able to generate a crash dump when it happened?

the exact same thing is happening to me lol
ive lost like 50 RR in penalties from just trying to play the game but the game crashing and not letting me back in. about 50% of the time if i reopen val instantly i get into the game but if i dont i just get a 5 min penalty and -17 RR or something
so frustrating cause im literally solo maining chamber and grinding rank rn

Yeah this crash is very frustrating because when we reproduced it it doesn’t produce a dump either, the crash is so bad it crashes the crash handler
@twin silica our guess right now is it’s an animation decompression bug that happens on cpus that support avx512 instructions, some bios might support turning off avx512 and it might help in your case

what changed that started causing this?
i'm pretty sure but not 100% yet that disabling avx512 in bios fixed it
i have been experiencing similar crash to the user above, game was crashing on selecting chamber only
ive also been in contact with another user here who was also crashing on chamber, i had submitted a ticket to riot with crashlogs they told me it was my internet? anyways if that helps my specs are 9800x3d and 5070ti
Yeah 9800x3d supports avx512, so it sounds like the same crash
Try disabling avx512 in bios

How many matches have you played since? And before turning off avx512 how often did locking in chamber crash your game
4 chamber games since, not a single crash. before the avx512 switch it was every game, probably happened 10-15 times

something like 20 attempts of which 10-15 crashes were unable to be recovered, the rest i could get back into the game and people would ask "ok whose pc is a potato" type of thing

is it possible to revert the RR penalties that occurred as a result of the crashes? my whole express purpose of playing recently was with the goal of reaching a certain rank with solo chamber in the next few weeks and this bug specifically stopped me in my tracks

heya, just wanted to follow up and see if you are still seeing no crashes since disabling avx512, our engineers wanted to confirm whether disabling the avx512 code path in the engine can bypass the crash for now until we root cause it

Thats great to hear! I need avx512 enabled unfortunatly because of what i use this machine for at time so im just playing omen im the meanwhile, i did notice with me that sometimes i can play chamber and sometime cant
But in all of my crashes the common was always chamber

i kinda wish it would happen to me on everygame as chamber, being not replicable on the same step is annoying to troubleshoot

most of the times im not even locking an agent
yeah ik, it's been very hard for us to troubleshoot as well because of how difficult it is to reproduce
i had a event viewer error on the first day it happened
oh, that sounds like a different issue- check the crash dump folder and dm me the crash and I can take a look for you
