Is this a bug?
On Sober (Linux Roblox Client), there's an option called "Console Experience" where you can use Roblox Console edition (basically a spoofer) and then when you join games that detects which platform the user plays, it instead detects Console instead of PC.

@Hugh
is this in the config menu for sober
Sober
yeah
you guys got plan for including a detector? since it breaks crossplay
this is interesting.
sober is currently an edgecase since 99.9% of players play on windows/mac/console/mobile. not sure how reliably spoofed clients can be detected (if at all). are you trying to raise awareness that it can be used maliciously by allowing pc players on linux to join console servers?
yes, i didn't spread it, i just recently discovered this
im bad at english, sorry, misread it as i try to spread it maliciously-
yes yes, just wanted to be sure we were on the same page is all. i don't see it as much of a problem personally considering that xbox users can play with a keyboard and mouse if they wanted, plus it seems sober offfers these features for a reasonable reason (providing support for users who are playing on touch screen devices and gamepad devices)
though, considering that linux is becoming mainstream
no no i didn't think you were being malicious, i just wanted to ensure we understood one another
kk
though it will be a problem in the future if linux will become a popular OS
and considering that PC players using the console experience will have access to FFlags, better hardware and all
though, i agree that this isn't of a big issue right now
ehh possibly, though it would be up to roblox to address in my opinion. i could plug a keyboard and mouse into my android phone and mirror my screen to a display with a USB-C huh and play on mobile as if i were playing on a PC. i can play on xbox with a keyboard and mouse. to my knowledge, this does not change the client device information, so realistically people can "spoof" their clients much easier and in an undetectable way by doing either of the above
roblox is aware of sober and sober has kept it close source to prevent people from easily exploiting it. the devs have spoken with roblox devs before iirc so i imagine if roblox wanted them to stop offering this feature, they could ask and sober would comply
but overall its a nonissue since the platform itself offers a myriad of ways to "spoof" your client by design, allowing you to play on mobile/console only servers/games with keyboard and mouse
interesting though, i was not aware sober offered this feature
it also offers mobile support
i'll open a thread on the sober server about it and ask what they think/what the stance on this sort of thing is on roblox
alright
thanks for your time, sir, have a great day! ^^
one of the sober devs stated they don't believe roblox has ever commented on this sort of thing (spoofing your client/platform), so it's not something roblox cares enough about or sees as a big enough issue to comment on. they did say that devs can restrict keyboard/mouse input in experiences themselves though, which puts control into the devs hands since that gives an easy way to thwart people who spoof to gain an advantage
should it become a bigger issue in the future i'll bring it up with our team
alrighty
