Importing prefixes
I have made a backup of the prefixes from my previous installation of Linux, so I'd have an easier time moving. I have pasted the backup where it should be, and when launching, in the log, it says the file already exists and refuses to launch. Renaming the current prefix to a different name makes Heroic create the prefix again, but deleting the newly created one and renaming the backup folder back to the original name doesn't fix the error.

Hm, what's the exact error you're getting? Ideally send in a game log
To help you, we need a game log. Please see the following images on how to get it.

https://0x0.st/Kmgo.log also i have offline installed mafia from gog, i can play it with ge proton without changing any settings right?
i dont remember changing any setting last time i set it up but in this linux install there is a crackling sound when playing the game, and there are way too many fixes searching it online
i just tried setting pulse latency msec to 60 and that fixed the crackling issue
now for this issue should i just copy over only my save files?
Let Heroic create the prefix, then copy the contents of your old prefix folder into the new one. That should correctly resolve symlinks
Also, you don't want to import GOG games like that. Instead log in with GOG in Heroic, click the download icon on your game, then choose "Import". Adding games as you're doing it right now won't give you access to any storefront-specific features (cloud saves, updates, automatic game fixes, game install steps, probably more I'm forgetting)

oh i see, does that work on pre installed games as well
The "Import" button is specifically for importing an existing game install into Heroic
