Rechargeable Battery Pack
I'm having trouble finding a 6V, rechargeable power bank with a male barrel jack output. Preferably, it would have 10k+ mAh. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Why 6v? I'd imagine most power banks are 5v.
This person probably can't find one with 6v because there is no 6v
Yup there is none expect if you want smth like this

need more info, if the idea is to power an Uno with it, 6v isn't high enough, even if they made 6v versions
my bad, I'm running an elegoo mega
i've got a 9v battery pack im running rn but its heating up 'round the voltage regulators a concerning amount
and my lights are clearly brighter than they should be
not sure if my board is just faulty but im trying to dial back
the usb power doesn't heat it at all
and usb afaik is 5v
An normal battery pack/ power bank with an boost converter ?
6 aa batteries
series style
Well remove some AA batteries
can i just do that and it'll run?
(to test if the board is faulty)
Make the series wiring correct
its a pack box
like in toys n stuff
where you click them in
Yeaj thay wint wirk
oof
So do you want to power an uno with it ??
elegoo mega
K
i also noticed that some components are way brighter than normal
well, a bit
The 6 9v batteries cause the mega to heat up?
6 aa batteries
1.5*6=9
*6 AA
yop
and my components are brighter than normal
heats in the microcontroller and the voltage regulator
Can you send an before / after pic?
And, to you have an multimeter or another mega?
actually
not another mega
but another board where i can test if it also heats
would that work instead?
Do that at your own risk
its easy to make the swap
K
what do ya mean?
they're all powered the same way no?
You might fry the other board too, though it's an small chance
Let me run some numbers
it takes a bit to heat up
not at all HOT
its just a bit warmer than I would like
Well, how buck converters and resistors work is by converting exess power to heat. Thats probably what your observing
i figured
its just strange that usb doesn't cause that
makes me think that a lower voltage would make more sense
It's because an USB port supply's 5v to the mega
So no heat is converted
Right now, your best bet is to use an power bank
5v power bank
alright then
got any recomendations?
preferably something quite small
Every single power bank on earth is 5v….
Just use the one you have laying around
yeahhh started heating up the other board too
5v it is

Or you could use 2 18650 cells…
Though an power bank is safer and more “beginner friendly”
and just to confirm, the 5v/2.4a doesn't mean that it will always give 2.4a
So your question is answered right
it will give 5v and draw depends on the components, right?
No, but don’t risk it
i have no plan of going close to even 1a
so i think im alr
thanks gang 🙏
Usually, but sometimes it does, so DO NOT RISK IT AND HOOK IT UP TO AN 5V 1 amp PORT
as in, for charging?
Do supply the arduino power
i guess im just not sure of what im not supposed to hook it up to
I can hook it up to the arduino via barrel jack but I can't hook it up to certain charging ports?
Use the 1 amp port on the powerbank

So am I
