Solution
AMD64 will work fine.
ah, i see, thank you
Intel uses it.
alright
thought it was an exclusive to amd iso
im just stupid
No worries. You were willing to ask.
thank you for the straighforward answer!
The long tale is AMD made AMD64 first and then intel adopted it and wanted to call it Intel64, but I mean they implemented it second so tough luck for them.
interesting
no not AMD specific
just big tech being big tech and plastering their name over stuff huh
thiygh AND did make it
Intel will forever regret not making a 64 instruction set that didn't stink first.
wait if im already here should i get the uhhh
And I will smile at them
they did have itanium
which version is better?

& it sucked/died
Your call. Live will boot a gui and the installer. Non live will just be an installer.
The installer is gui in both cases.
So it's really just which you want.
the live one is nice
Think of live as traditional live cd and the other is just the installer gui
ah live is just like with endevour huh
well i assume non live is faster
i like the live one
i do have a call to get to so ill go with the non live
thanks!

this is like the 4th linux distro im using
Eh about the same speed. Used both. I think the live is smaller because of some compression it uses.
oh what
lol don't hop too much.
Trust me you'll never stop
well too late i guess
hmmm
nah
im not hopping much
YOU SAY THAT DON'T FALTER TO MY FATE.
my computer is just like
cursed
davinci resolve is refusing to work
i couldnt choose between centos and rocky and some guy on reddit said like
theres something call ujust that lets you get davinci on bazzite
and bazzite looked cool in general
soo nothing new
all the other answers in the thread were saying just
"uhhh i have no problem setting DR on my pc using x distro bluh bluh"
So once you get it some basics to cover. This is an immutable distro so some things won't install the same. Prefer flatpak over all other installation methods.
Ujust is your HUGE friend for anything troublesome, check there first. You can use "ujust --choose" in command line. There's a command JUST for installing davinci right in there. It'll be
ujust install-resolve
Lots of helper scripts therealright
Lots of thinks work best as containers. You'll learn to run things in userland instead of modifying root. Use the docs 100% it covers a LOT.
i am
not really sure what that means
but also
this is not my main os
The tradeoff to doing things like configure overrides in $HOME instead of modifying root is that you can nuke your mistakes easily and things are tough as hell to break.
im just using this for video editing

most of my usage will just be sticking it a usb with shit i recorded in cinematography class and editing it
So with immutable the easiest explanation is...
Root, kernel, all those drivers all together act as one giant package instead of millions of pieces.
Makes it stupid easy to roll back, roll forward, pin a version...
damn
im not gonna make much use of that but
that looks pretty sweet
Means you can't like go into root and modify folders there. Best to do overrides in $home and stuff but my god it's tough to break on accident.
if i ever get a desktop i might use bazzite on it
btw this might be a stupid question
what exactly
is fedora
i just
dont get it
AH. So...
Linux has two MASSIVE players.
RedHat and Debian.
i know the names
They're "the big boys" like microsoft in a way, but for servers, etc. Almost everything in linux is derrived from them. There's a few other smaller ones like arch, but they're the big business boys.
alright
Fedora started as the user-facing testing ground of what eventually bleeds back into CentOS their main distro.
isnt centos dead
technically stuff in
/
is modifiable not /usr
where the system files actually areand replaced with rocky
which people are saying is like
really really shady
Could be. But probably all still RedHat.
which is why i headed to bazzite actually
couldnt know what to choose and
if she got kde and davinci she good enough for me
i love kde kde is so cool
But yeah Bazzite and it's siblings are an attempt at a new way of doing things.
And yeah just use
ujust --choose
since the resolve command up there will handle davinci!i have no idea why anyone would want genome over it its so limited
I actually use gnome because plasma hates me and crashes XD
I'd love to use it but unlocking my PC to the third plasma crash this week was a bit much
alright
ah i get it
my entire pc hates me
its actually cursed
xorg
wayland
both are
I'd love kde but I'm cursed.
really really fucking slow
30fps on what
the uhhh
webgl aquarium
my specs?

Well linux mint is debian based and really old packages now.
btw sorry for the full screenshot every time
Linux Mint was FANTASTIC in the day but these days debian moves too slow. Fantastic for older systems or stability over all else.
normally i use kde but
NO WORRIES.
rn im booted from a usb actually
https://docs.bazzite.gg/Installing_and_Managing_Software/?h=installing+a
HERE WE ARE. THIS.
This document will cover the best ways to manage software in bazzite, being immutable, in order.
Installing and Managing Applications - Bazzite Documentation
Bazzite is a custom image built upon Fedora Atomic Desktops that brings the best of Linux gaming to all of your devices.
i just didnt wanna restart after resizing the partition lmao
RPM and Debs are like last ditch efforts. With immutable cores, or read-only root, package management (which is a mess anyways) is something that's done only if utterly required.
useful
With flatpak, etc at the forefront!
alright
It takes a bit of adjusting to after using package managers, but it's solid as a rock.
KDE works nicely enough for me
man on mint everyone always shits on flatpak 24/7
its funny how its the complete opposite here anyways
though i don't do that much
Yeah a lot of arch users too. In a way I can see why. For one flatpak is new and had a lot of teething pains.
idk whats wrong with flatpak on mint anyways
i had like
barely any issues
And sandboxed can introduced its own issues on occasion, but a lot of the time it's people who don't wanna do the new way because the old way works.
i had to use flatseal like once to give vesktop some extra perms
and thast it
You should see how some arch users treat flatpaks. It's like a cardinal sin.
yessss
You know flatseal. You will do fine.
thank god i dont use arch anymore
i tried it
like
originally i went with pop os
but after like
5 hours with a friend streaming to them my pc
after trying wayland
xorg
my display would just
not work
Also warehouse is another tool that'll be nice for you. It's built in and can handle leftover data after uninstall and the like as well as flatseal for permissions.
literally 0 clue why
this computer is actually cursed
kinda the point of flatpak not having random issues nobody else does
so she told me to use endevour
i did
it fucking sucked i had so many issues
and like
a day before deltarune came out i rushed to install linux mint so i could play
because steam just stopped opening for me no matter what
That's also why you should follow the docs! For support follow those first. Avoid things like bottles (explained elsewhere but it violates like every good way to make a wine prefix). Bazzite is best done as the docs say so there's as little issues that aren't in common with others as possible. Which is what flatpak, etc also help with. Also why the root is more one giant package. If everyone is sync'd up weirdo issues are less likely.
alright
Glad to see another flatpak enjoyer though.
btw that rush was so worth it just gonna mention
You'll be at home.
idk it worked it so it works
I still need to play chapter 3 and 4. In a game slump.
deb packages work too
-# also...
havent really had any issues in either
good luck!! theyre awesome
but tip
when you play ch3 just
go into it knowing its a very different one then 1&2
i thought i didnt like it at first because i didnt think of that
