Best way to transfer to new phone with iOS backup?
hi all, I have been using immich to back up my iOS photo library to my local storage. All assets came from the iOS app backup—was a lengthy initial sync.
I recently got a new phone and restored from an icloud backup. Immich stayed logged in and I was hopeful things would just keep working, but nothing new is being synced. When I try turning an album on to backup, it looks like it is starting to sync the entire library from scratch again. Is that necessary?
Thanks in advance.

If this ticket can be closed you can use the /close
command, and re-open it later if needed.Which version of the server are you on? Make sure you're on the latest server version and the mobile app version. Logout and login to ensure everything gets properly synced. If all is well, the app should detect duplicates and not reupload them
1.143.1. When I enable sync on the main album it shows 17,000+ assets remaining

Ah, so all those won't actually be backed up. The remainder are those that are yet to be processed. Once the assets are hashed, they will move from the remainder list to backed up list. You can check that there are 17852 assets that are still being processed
how long should I expect that to take or just otherwise know that its working?
Depends on how many assets you have on the device vs how many are offloaded to the iCloud. Looks like you've selected the "Recents" album with all the assets which is bound to take a long time. You can start with adding a small album first then add new albums once they are processed to fasten the process
