Which of these shoes is likely to be more versatile?

I was looking to pick up the timberland 3-eye lug boat shoes but they were too narrow. These sperrys have a similar profile and fit a bit better. They are available in the traditional look with a contrasting sole or a more uniform suede version. I'd usually pick the former, but since I already have original sperrys in nearly that color, it does seem kind of redundant. But given that these are largely going to replace those, which are pretty beat, maybe it's not. Intended use is not super specific, which is why I'm asking about versatility, mostly worn with light or dark wide chinos, light wash jeans, light linen shorts, etc. Third photo for reference is with both similar color original sperrys I already have to give an idea of skin contrast. I think maybe the dark ones look a bit stark with lighter colored shorts, but it's not really an issue I think about often.

Hi @interpassivity! For better answers, include: - Reference pictures - Budget in numbers - Specific measurements - Openness to buying secondhand and/or online - Location: country/continent is fine - Timing/urgency

thanks, that was my gut reaction but I wasn't able to try the other ones in store so I wasn't sure any thoughts on those vs these gh bass ranger camp mocs?

i generally prefer ranger mocs over boat shoes but that is a personal preference over years of time even without that i still think they're better; i'm not sure if they have the same potential weird fit as weejunz but if you've worn bass before then it's a non-issue

I had some of their suede bucks ages ago and they were maybe a bit narrow but not as bad as the timbs I just tried iirc what's the functional difference between a lug soled boat shoe and a camp moc here aside from the extra eyelet btw? construction looks similar otherwise

the extra eyelet is a functional difference to help keep the camp moc more secure when worn in cool weather/with socks vs boat shoes kicked off when not on a boat i believe the heel collar is double-lined as well imo i'd have both for rotation purposes but I live in a place with four seasons; if you don't then you'd probably be fine with just the one pair

It’s not that functional but the higher vamp and bigger sole just makes a difference in how it looks on foot. Boat shoes are kinda floppy while the timbs are similar are more substantial

so does this mean that they can't slide on and off like a boat shoe then, or at least it would be much harder?
That's actually a pretty important feature for me. Is it likely that I could still do it with the 3-eye sperry lug like I can with my current 2-eye A/Os?

in my experience a little harder not enough to favor one over another just providing anecdotal data frankly I think it's worth buying: try it on, slip it on and off, get a refund or exchange if it feels off it feels a little cavalier for me to say this about $200 shoes i'm not buying and i respect not doing so, but i think we're approaching a saturation point where the answers here matter less than the tangible experience you get with shoe on foot

I'm going to try to find them both in stock somewhere, but I'm probably leaning toward the sperry since it's likely a softer leather like the originals and might be easier to slip on, hard to tell conclusively with a rigid, unworn shoe though in any event, thanks for the advice thanks
