Oversized sweater styling

So I potentially made a mistake. I bought the following sweater, which was advertised as a Vintage Large. It's 30" pit to pit, way up from the usual 23-24" I wear. The sleeves are just right at 23" however l, which has me thinking: Is this salvageable if I style it intentionally? Or did I completely screw the pooch? Make is LL Bean, looks to be a well taken care of 80% wool 20% rayon piece

Hi @semibah! For better answers, include: - Reference pictures - Budget in numbers - Specific measurements - Openness to buying secondhand and/or online - Location: country/continent is fine - Timing/urgency

Whew. That's reassuring! Most people I consulted also told me these aren't really meant to be worn tightly on the body so that's also something. I'll take some fit pics once it's here Any styling tips for a good oversized look? Slimmer pants maybe

the default mode would be to match silhouette of top to bottom to be congruent but thats far from a rule so best to just try shit out as oman suggests

I have that exact sweater in that size, but I've never seen it go up to 30" p2p before 🤯 Def go with big pants to balance out the proportion. These sweaters have some structure, so it's gonna look funny without big pants.
