How to make subdirectories
i heard on reddit that making subdirectories is good so you dont have everything in 1 folder/directory. so i wanted to ask how can i made a directory for videos and a directory for photos

In order to be able to effectively help you, we need you to provide clear information to show what the problem is. The exact details needed vary per case, but here is a list of things to consider:
- Your docker-compose.yml and .env files.
- Logs from all the containers and their status (see above).
- All the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far.
- Any recent changes you've made to Immich or your system.
- Details about your system (both software/OS and hardware).
- Details about your storage (filesystems, type of disks, output of commands like fdisk -l and df -h).

the furthest i've done in self hosting is emby
I don't really understand the question. Where are you wanting to make subdirectories?
For example i want my library folder to contain a folder for Images and a folder for videos. WIll that make it better if i have large number of files
But you don't need to worry about it, Immich already does this properly by default
