Questions about adding nice!views
Hi, I'm planning on building a 5 column corne using no solder headers. I'm undecided on the nice!views at this point. Can these displays be added later by following the build guide to insert the nice!view onto the top of the no solder headers above the nice!nano and reflash with the correct firmware? Can I flash the firmware with the nice!view code if there is not a nice!view installed? Thanks!

Short answer: yes, you can add nice!views later, and you should match the firmware to whatever hardware is installed at the time.
Details:
- Hardware: If you use the no-solder headers for the nice!view, you can install them later by pressing the plastic part of the headers into the PCB and then pushing the nice!view into those headers. You’ll likely remove the display cover to access the area. The nice!view plugs into its own headers next to the nice!nano (not on top of it). See “nice!view” here: https://docs.typeractive.xyz/build-guides/corne-wireless/nice-view
- Batteries/wire routing: When you add the display later, just make sure the battery lead isn’t in the way; the wire should run between the nice!view socket area and the inner nice!nano socket as shown here: https://docs.typeractive.xyz/build-guides/corne-wireless/batteries
- Firmware: For a 5-column Corne, we provide separate firmware builds for with and without nice!view. We recommend using the non-view firmware until you install the displays, then reflash with the view firmware. 5-col firmware links are on this page (see the 5 Column section): https://docs.typeractive.xyz/build-guides/corne-wireless/firmware
- Flashing is drag-and-drop UF2 to NICENANO; guide here: https://docs.typeractive.xyz/troubleshooting/entering-bootloader
If you want, you can also start with the non-view firmware and later switch to the view firmware without changing anything else.
If you need help choosing the right files or steps when you’re ready to add the displays, reply here or tag me and I’ll walk you through it.
