Installing manually compiled applications into Bazzite

So I installed Bazzite DX, but my editor of choice is Emacs with specific compilation options I normally select myself. How can I manually compile and install applications into something immutable like Bazzite?

Don't quote me on this as I've never done such a thing but I think distrobox is probably the route to look.

yeah I think that could work if I'm not able to overlay it in the end but I'd like to know if it's possible to install it at a system level as if with rpm-ostree, if anything to avoid not being able to treat my application at the same level as the OS itself I already have ptsd from trying to get emacs in wsl2 working on windows, that was a MESS

IIRC /usr/local/bin is writable

distrobox + distrobox-export worked perfectly, closing this post
