How to Install MediaWiki?
Most tutorials I've found online have either resulted in errors I cannot find solutions to anywhere online or are outdated by several years. How do I go about adding MediaWiki to my wiki page? Or is there an alternative option that is still able to achieve a similarly customizable feel?
I'm incredibly new to all of this and have never made a wiki page before. I have somewhat non-basic knowledge of python, JavaScript, and HTML but I don't think I'm a genius who could edit a website based off of that alone.
Any advice or help from people who have been doing this longer? I'm incredibly lost.

If you have created a Wikioasis instance and it has been approved, you already a fully functional Mediawiki installation. What are you missing?
Or is it about an use case of Mediawiki outside of Wikioasis?...

I would also like to note that I no longer have the errors on hand as this is after three attempts at insalling and uninstalling and restarting. All I have is the feeling of my hair slowly departing from my scalp.
MediaWiki is the software your wiki runs on - you can't "add" it to your wiki since it's already there

No, I see I misunderstood. Those eight hours of stress were for naught, but at least I don't have to do it again.
Thank you 😭
You're welcome - if you have any further issues with your wiki, feel free to ask
Got it! TYSM
I suppose my only gripe now is figuring out how to get things to look as snazy as Fandom wiki. :bunny_painTears:
With a fresh Wikioasis instance, you'll start off very basic and threadbare, but you have a lot of customization options between CSS, Mediawiki extensions etc
Any recommended extensions?
VisualEditor allows you to edit your wiki without needing to know wiki markup; if you plan on having other people edit your wiki, enable DiscussionTools and its required extensions (if you don't, then ignore). To enable these extensions, go to

It depends. It really does.
Just start off with the content you need in terms of page content and categories, from there on it should be much easier to figure out what you want and activate extensions as needed
Final quesion: where would I upload or edit custom CSS or JavaScript?
MediaWiki:Common.css and MediaWiki:Common.js, respectively
